Visiting the Nigerian President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

Dear Mission Partners

It gives us tremendous joy to let you know that we have once again witnessed crowds of people passing through the valley of decision (Joel 3:14) into eternal life. It is such a privilege to be sent by God to work in this unparalleled harvest. It is worth every effort, all the struggles and all the work, all the sacrifices … indeed, our whole life. This harvest changes the lives of millions of people for all eternity – and by the grace of our Lord we have an opportunity, with you at our side, to reach millions more.

It is absolutely overwhelming to see hundreds of thousands of people flocking together to hear the Word

of God in towns that hardly feature on the map. In this IMPACT we are reporting on the Great Gospel Campaign in the neighbouring towns of Karu and Mararaba in the geographical centre of Nigeria. What hunger and what expectation we found there! That impressive campaign was the start of our new 2010/2011 harvest season.

It was a very special privilege for us to be invited by the new President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to the presidential chapel in the capital of Abuja on Sunday, 22 August. We are sure that the great favour that has been shown to us in Nigeria over the past ten years and

the wonderful harvest that we have experienced under his government in this vast country with nearly fast 160 million inhabitants will continue without interruption.

Yours in the love of Jesus

Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda Evangelists

The pastors told us when we arrived that our coming at this specific time is especially significant to them because it was in August 1910 that the first missionaries came to this region with the light of the gospel … exactly 100 years ago this month!

As he was praying Daniel Kolenda saw a young woman running to the platform holding crutches over her head. He immediately called her on to the platform. In tears she told him that she had been crippled by a severe spinal cord injury – but suddenly the power of God came over her and she was totally healed.

After prayer, a

four-year-old boy stood

up and walked for

the first time in his life.

A woman had been deaf in her left ear for 12 years. To test her healing, Daniel Kolenda asked her to cover her right ear. He then walked to the other side of the platform and said, “Say hallelujah”. She shouted back, “Hallelujah!”

A man who had been totally paralysed for 34 years was fully healed. He had been unable to stand, sit, or even feed himself, but during the prayer, strength entered his body and he rose up and walked!

A young man brought a diagnosis from 2006 saying he was HIV positive. After receiving prayer, he went for another test the next morning. He also brought that doctor’s report and Daniel Kolenda read it to the crowd … “HIV negative”!

A woman brought along her husband who had been insane. He used to be so violent and vicious that he had to be tied up. Before the meeting he had been bound hands and feet behind the platform but during the prayer he returned to his senses. People cut his ties and set him free. He was calm and fully in his right mind as he spoke softly to me.

An elderly lady told us that her leg had been broken in an accident three years before. After prayer she was able to walk and even run!

... completed decision cards were counted in Karu. The first Great Gospel Campaign of the 2010/2011 season began with a mighty drum roll. The follow-up work by the local church fellowships is now well under way, the aim being for every born-again Christian to find a home in a lively church.

808,190Karu Although it is the rainy season in Nigeria and we tech-

nically consider this CfaN’s “out of season” campaign, we all had a sense that the timing of this event had been divinely orchestrated. At the welcome dinner, the campaign chairman said, “The atmosphere of this land changed immediately once your feet touched the soil of Karu. The spiritual temperature has tremendously increased. The high voltage of God’s power is about to be detonated and we are confident that Satan and his cohorts are already jittery.”

On the very first day more than 110,000 people flocked to the cam-paign site, keen to hear the good news of salvation. While Daniel Kolenda was preaching, the huge crowd was completely still … they hung on his every word. Yet when people who had been touched by God later gave their testimonies, their voices were often lost in the thunderous cries of joy from the enthusiastic crowd.

When the CfaN team arrived at the campaign site on the third evening, the sight took our breath away. Thieves had heaped up huge piles of stolen property had been surrendered to be turned over to the authorities. Many idols and witchcraft items had been brought along to be burned! Once they went up in smoke, Daniel began to pray for the people breaking every devilish curse in the mighty name of Jesus and amazing things began to happen! Demons started manifesting, healing broke out spon-

taneously all across the field and many bondages were in-stantly broken. An insane woman sud-denly came to her senses. Cripples be-gan to walk and blind, deaf and dumb people were instantly healed. The crowd of 250,000 was ecstatic, dancing and singing for joy.

It was “holy chaos”.At the final meeting the crowd swelled to 450,000. The gospel was preached by Reinhard Bonnke. Watching the multitudes streaming onto the field by the thousands, one pastor said, “It looks like the Children of Israel en-tering the Promised Land”. The unparalleled, historic harvest of souls on the continent of Africa continues!

The 2010 World Pentecostal Conference took place in Stock-holm, Sweden, in the historic Philadelphia Church estab-lished by Levi Petrus, one of the founders of the Swedish

Pentecostal movement, 100 years ago. This was the first time for decades that the event had returned to Sweden and Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke was invited to be one of the speakers.

It was a unique occasion marked by extraordinary unity among the participating movements. The atmosphere was ripe for a move of the Holy Spirit. When Evangelist Bonnke spoke, it was as if a floodgate opened as God moved in a mighty way to touch all hearts afresh with the profound truths of Pentecostal power and evangelism.

In a special meeting for ministers and evangelists, those present hung on every word as Reinhard Bonnke urged them to follow God’s call – no matter what the cost. “Never follow a parked car – and never follow a parked pastor either” went deep into the hearts of the leaders. They were challenged to go, and go they did!

Following the WPC, the Reverend Siegfried Tomazsewski and Evangelist Bonnke ministered at the SOS Church in Stockholm. Johannes Amritzer is an evangelist to whom

God spoke a year ago about building a church right in the centre of Stockholm, in the inner city. Although he had already found-ed a number of churches, he was immediately obedient. Today there are over 350 people in this rapidly growing church. On the Sunday, the rented Stockholm Conference Centre was filled with over 900 people from the streets of Stockholm. The altar was packed when Evangelist Bonnke gave the call for salvation after a powerful message. People came with tears of repentance and joy. To God be the glory!

The next stop was Seinajoki for a conference of evangelists; Pastor Martti

Kalionpää had invited Evangelist Bonnke and the team to minister there. Over four days evangelists and leaders gathered to listen and receive from the Word of God during the daytime sessions. The Reverend Siegfried Tomazsewski challenged them to live and serve “without compromise”. An evangelistic meeting was held on the Friday night and many gave their lives to the Lord in response to the altar call for salvation.

We rejoice in what the Lord has done in Sweden and Finland, proving once again that there is hope for Europe! If we preach the gospel and do what the disciples did, we will see and experience what the disciples saw and experienced. “Not by might nor

In 1951 Reinhard Bonnke, who was 11 years old at the time, was baptised in the Holy Spirit during the ministry of the Finnish pastor Arto Kukulla in northern Germany. The two men met again in Finland nearly 60 years later. Pastor Kukulla, who is now 99 years old, blessed Reinhard in a moving scene on the stage and prayed for him.

(Reinhard Bonnke gives a detailed account of his experience of being baptised in the Spirit in Chapter 10 of his autobiography “Living a Life of Fire”.)

by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord!” (Zechariah 4:6) Let us all rely on the Holy Spirit afresh and return to our roots. If we preach the gospel, the gospel happens, as Evangelist Bonnke says.

My prayer is that we will return to the place where we truly trust and obey, relying on his power. Then HE will use YOU as he uses Evangelists Bonnke, Kolenda or anyone else – for HIS glory.

Report byReverend Siegfried Tomazsewski

God healed wonderfully during the gospel meetings on the Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Evangelist Bonnke’s message challenged every one of the almost 5,000 people who attended. One woman who came in a wheelchair did not walk but danced home!
