• 2013-2014 Basic Structure

• Minimum of 7 non-major grade assignments

• At least 2 major grades per 6 weeks, one written and one oral.

• Many extra-credit opportunities will be available throughout the school year!

• Class activities to expect:– Role playing– Duets/small group skits– Puppet shows– Vocabulary games and quizzes **Vocabulary MUST be

memorized outside of school!** Class will be devoted to subject/verb agreement, word order, pronunciation, etc. However you are responsible for the vocabulary at the end of each chapter as well!

– Word-order/grammar competitions– Interactive reviews– Wir werden so viel deutsch wie möglich sprechen!

• As this is likely to be your only chance to interact in German, I will conduct class in German as often as possible and I expect students to do so as well.

• There will be occasional opportunities to speak German, including regional and State competition, which will be announced as they approach. (10/26/13, 2/1/14 and TBA)

• Tutorials will be offered DAILY (M-F) from 6:45 am-7:25 and again from 2:30pm-3pm extended time will be available upon request.

• Peer tutorials will be offered upon request.

• Homework will primarily consist of vocabulary memorization and class assignments that were not finished in class. This is because I want to be immediately available to you. Major grades will require research, preparation, and possibly group meetings outside of the class.
