Queen’s University is proud to host the annual National Student Conference of the Canadian Society for Epidemiology & Biostatistics on May 27th-28th, 2010. Conference participants include students with an interest in exposure to research in areas related to Epidemiology and Biostatistics (can include public health, population health, health services and policy research, health economics, international health, health sciences, general sciences, etc.) presenting their own original research. The Scientific Program Committee invites abstracts for oral and poster presentations related to Epidemiology and Biostatistics.The conference organizers would like to see all delegates have the opportunity to present work; therefore proposals, research in progress, and final findings are eligible for presentation.

Presentations from undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students are welcome.

What Does The Exam Look Like?

• 15 multiple choice questions• Will start promptly at 10:05am• Will end precisely at 11:20am• No aids whatsoever, except a simple

calculator• Do rough calculations on question sheet• Return question sheets at the end of exam• Only scantron sheet will be marked

Is it Hard?

• 6 questions involve calculations• You can probably do 5 without a calculator• The rest are knowledge questions• 3 of them are BLATANT GIVEAWAYS!!!!

What Should You Study?

• No standardization question

• How to calculate sensitivity, specificity (1 question)• How to calculate LR+, LR-, PV+ and PV- (1 question)• How to calculate Kappa (1 question)• How to calculate post-test odds and probability (1 question)• How to calculate incidence and prevalence (1 question)• How to calculate cumulative survival rate (1 question)

• Pretoria, South Africa (CDC)• Contractor must have: A doctoral degree or equivalent education in

medicine, epidemiology, or a public health field. At least two years’ experience in the Epidemiology Intelligence Service, a Field Epidemiology Training Program, or similar field epidemiology service.
