HS MIOS 5 Your simple way of imaging
Tradition and Innovation – Since 1858, visionary thinking and a fascination with technology have guided us to develop innovative products of outstanding reliability: Anticipating trends to improve the quality of life.
MIOS stands for Microscope Imaging and Operation System. In spite of the high complexity of the task, it supports you with comfortable handling and displays all of the information you might need – at any time. It offers functions like recording operation scenes, as well as capturing and recording of snapshots which can be assigned to patient names and stored internally or externally on USB or network drives and DVDs.
The HS MIOS 5 software control and redundant hardware is combined with high-quality full HD recording functionality. In addition, the system offers a huge range of optional modules. Capturing the surgery can be easily done via the HAAG-STREIT SURGICAL camera C.MOR HD. Displaying the camera’s image you have two options: it can either be realized with the microscope mounted M.DIS or the C.MON monitor on the floor stand.

C.MOR HD3
Compact HD camera C.MOR HD is a full-HD color video camera designed for the HAAG-STREIT SURGICAL microscope. Its ultracompact camera head includes a 1/3” CMOS sensor that meets very high standards. With a HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, images are crisp and sharp. The camera is available as a one-chip and a three-chip version. Different user settings allow individual adjustments.
C.MON HD
Display in full HD With its flat design and a size of 21.5 inches, the brilliant HD monitor C.MON HD can easily be attached to the microscope‘s floor stand. Its touch function can be operated even with medical gloves. Due to the planar screen and glass surface it can be disinfected easily. For the safety of the system the C.MON HD is fully approved for medical use.
M.DIS
Microscope mounted displayThe M.DIS (Microscope Display) is a touchscreen mounted close to the oculars in the surgeon’s direct view. When connected to the HS MIOS 5, the M.DIS acts as a remote control of the recording system. It can even be operated through the drape and makes visualization possible in the direct view of the surgeon. This is especially beneficial for ICG.
DisplayCamera and monitor The main functions of MIOS 5 are recording operation scenes, as well as captur-
ing and recording of snapshots which can be assigned to patient names and stored internally or externally on USB or network drives and DVDs.
HardwareThe hardware for the HS MIOS 5‘s recording solution was especially designed for use in operating theaters. Thus, patient data is stored on exchangeable hard drives to maintain privacy. For easy service, the system data is stored on two redundant CF cards. Due to their write protection feature, the risk of computer viruses affecting the system is decreased.
Similar to a tablet PC, the multi-touch monitor of the HS MIOS 5 enables the user to dynamically zoom in and navigate through the live picture. Interesting areas are magnified, and their position is shown in an overview window in the top right corner.
Software The patient menu features an intelligent patient search function that shows live results. The patient data may be sorted by different properties so that the system can be operated more quickly. Patient data that is stored on the HS MIOS 5 can be opened for preview.
The recording menu is used to record videos and snapshots onto the internal hard drive or directly to a USB flash drive, hard disk (USB 2.0 & 3.0), or a network fold-er. Start/stop of video recording and taking snapshots can be controlled via the touchscreen or remotely via the microscope‘s hand or foot switch. For direct com-parison, previously taken videos and snapshots can be reviewed side by side with the live image.
The archive provides a summary of all patient information sorted by the surgery date. Single recordings and images can be marked for deleting, copying, and viewing. For copying, select the target drive between connected external drives or network folders. To fit a CD’s or DVD’s capacity, different video sizes can be selected.

ZOOM
M.AED
Automatic editing M.AED is a feature that allows editing on HS MIOS 5 without changing the normal/full recording. Its initial setup is as easy as its operation and requires the definition of a time period only (e.g., five seconds). Interesting scenes are marked during surgery via snapshots (vertical line) and video sequences around the snapshots are stored (five seconds before and five seconds after each snapshot, light blue lines). When entering the archive menu, all interesting scenes are automatically composed into one additional video (e.g., 30 seconds, light blue line).
M.REC 2
Connect your recordings By activating M.REC 2, the live streams of two camera inputs are shown simulta- neously on the HS MIOS 5: One as a full screen image, the other displayed as a picture-in-picture. Starting recording or doing a snapshot will automatically activate the function for both streams. This will result in two separate full HD videos being recorded or two separate high quality snapshots being taken.
M.DICOM
DICOM compatibility The HS MIOS 5 M.DICOM module is fully integrated into the software workflow, making it possible for the user to download a worklist and send selected pictures and videos to the DICOM Server.
M.WIFI
Wireless data transmissionThe Wi-Fi module is used to make a wireless connection to the network. The standard IEEE 802.11n, as well as WPA2 encryption, are supported. For easy handling HS MIOS 5 with M.WIFI automatically reconnects to the network when the system is booted.
HS MIOS 5Optional modules
M.AUDIO
Voice recordingComment on your procedures with a head-mounted microphone and use your voice in addition to the images for documentation. This is possible with M.AUDIO.
M.FOCUS
AutofocusAutomatic focusing is available with all microscope systems for Neuro/Spine, ENT, and Plastic & Reconstructive surgery. Benefit from an active focus area that is adjustable in size and position to allow individual focusing results.
M.ICG
ICG fluorescenceThe HS MIOS 5 module M.ICG is integrated in all ICG-compatible microscope systems to allow its visualization. ICG recording is initialized via hand switch or touchscreen and automatically turns the ICG live image to full screen. In addition, the live ICG flow is directly shown on the M.DIS that is positioned in the surgeon’s view. The time frame for ICG recording to stop is adjustable, and a playback mode allows slow motion and loop playing. ICG videos are clearly distinguishable from other videos in the archive.
M.TORIC
Toric Lens Alignment SupportThe M.TORIC function supports the user during toric lens implementation, which requires the HAAG-STREIT SURGICALs image injection options. The module consists of a 3-step process:
■ Configuration ■ Referencing ■ Visualization
Benefit from the HAAG-STREIT Lenstar integration and imported Lenstar data via USB.
