Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities This classification trains and oversees personnel, including hiring, firing, performance evaluations, work allocation, and problem resolution. Typical Functions 1. Ensures the effective and efficient allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and monies reflecting accountability and the highest quality work at the lowest possible price. 2. Ensures relevant policies, procedures, and laws are implemented. 3. Participates in the interview process and assesses, develops, and provides training for new and existing employees. 4. Manages the shop budget to meet established guidelines. 5. Prioritizes expenditures and assists in the preparation of capital and operations budgets. 6. Maintains inventory of supplies; makes and/or recommends purchases to meet the operation, maintenance, repair, and construction needs. 7. Estimates, plans, and schedules remodeling projects and service requests to ensure timely, efficient, and quality completion. 8. Organizes and conducts staff meetings. 9. Monitors employee work schedules; approves time off and approves payroll. 1

Summary

Incumbents in the Foreman Trades position coordinate and oversee work assignments to maintain, repair, and sustain the aesthetic and functional qualities of USU facilities.

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

This classification trains and oversees personnel, including hiring, firing, performance evaluations, work allocation, and problem resolution.

Typical Functions

15. Ensures that customers’ needs and expectations are met by overseeing the timely completion of work.

16. Coordinates and participates in meetings and committees to enhance and develop the Facilities department.

17. Performs direct labor as a working member of the shop team.18. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.5. Skilled at estimating time and material requirements for projects.6. Minimum Qualifications

Eight years of experience in a trade is required. Incumbent must possess Journeyman status in his/her particular trade.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position, including lifting up to 25 pounds, walking and standing. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
