HISTORY OF LEADERSHIPAND INNOVATION

1978-1980 HRE Wheels introduces modular wheels that are track specific designs for Formula Ford, Mazda Pro Series, Bosch Super Vee and Formula Atlantic Racers.

1985 HRE begins using forged centers. Focusing on achieving high strength and low unsprung mass for its modular wheels.

1991-1994HRE designs wheels for supercars such as the Vector and supports OE development

efforts. During this time HRE aligns itself with world-class tire companies.

1981HRE offers complete high-performance solutions for race teams. These packages include: wheels, suspensions and race set-ups. HRE brings wheels manufacturing in-house.

1983HRE becomes the first wheel company in the United States to successfully spin-form 3-piece rims. Eventually HRE introduces a new line of race-bred street wheels.

1978 19851980

Since 1978, HRE has consistently been at the forefront of the industry; creating trend-setting products and defining benchmarks for quality and service to become the leader in custom forged wheels, not just for a few years, but for decades.

1978 HRE starts life selling motorsport components to racers and enthusiasts

1980s HRE Wheels starts manufacturing some of the first 3-piece wheels made in the USA

1990s HRE begins the popularization of 3-piece forged wheels for the street with the introduction of the iconic 540 Series

2000-2005 HRE bucks the trend of “bling” and creates several industry-leading products like the ultra-lightweight Competition Series and the elegant 940R Series for luxury cars and SUVs and soon becomes the leading 3-piece wheel company in the U.S.

2006 Going against industry norms again, HRE invests heavily in the creation of the now iconic P40 Monoblok Series and quickly becomes the new market leader in 1-piece forged wheels.

2009 HRE creates the ultra-exclusive Carbon Series utilizing full carbon rim barrels for the ultimate in lightweight performance.

2010 HRE-backed race teams win championships in Grand Am and Formula Drift.

2011 HRE Europe is founded in Stuttgart, Germany. Monster Tajima sets the world record by breaking the elusive 10-minute barrier at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on HRE Monoblok P43S “Tajima Specials”.

2012 HRE takes the industry by storm launching its Vintage Series, a line inspired by designs from HRE’s long history, while also looking to the future with the releases of many more exciting products to come.

2009HRE again surprises the industry with its Carbon Series. Using full carbon rim barrels and mating them to high strength forged aluminum centers, HRE creating the ultimate lightweight performance wheels.

2009Gumpert commissions HRE to design and

manufacture their OE wheel for the Apollo supercar. The Apollo S would go on to break

the production car lap record at Germany’s famous Nurburgring circuit.

2010HRE-sponsored Fall Line Motorsports wins Grand Am Championship with special R43 wheels.

1993HRE Wheels is purchased by its current owners, setting the company on the path to becoming the finest custom forged wheel manufacturer in the world.

2003-2004HRE is selected as the OE wheel supplier for Saleen S7 supercars.

HRE introduces the 940R Series designed for SUVs and luxury sedans; being the first to offer clean, elegant

designs to the luxury market.

German TÜV certification of its Quality Management System. TÜV is the strictest and most difficult

2011HRE launches its new ad campaign featuring the latest in Monoblok and

1995The 540 mesh design is released generating acclaim throughout the automotive industry. HRE expands its production capabilities with state-of-the-art CNC technology

2007Shelby SuperCars commissions HRE to produce

wheels for their 257mph top speed record breaking SSC Ultimate Aero.

2009HRE enters ALMS on the West Racing

Lamborghini Gallardo featuring an all-new race spec Monoblok wheel.

2010HRE bolsters its racing program with the addition of Fall Line Motorsports (Grand Am), West Racing (ALMS), Rhys Millen Racing

(Pikes Peak, US Rally Cross Championship), Monster Energy/Falken Tire (Formula Drift) and Monster Tajima (Pike Peak).

2010HRE-sponsored Monster Energy/Falken Tire Ford Mustang wins Formula Drift Championship running on Competition C90 wheels.

2005HRE introduces one of the lightest aluminum modular

wheels in its history; the Competition Series. This series is a result of a decades-long commitment to

performance and engineering.

2006 HRE introduces Monoblok one-piece forged

series with over 10 styles and applications for sport, luxury and exotics. The HRE P40

Monoblok begins its journey as one of the most iconic aftermarket wheels in history.

2011HRE launches HRE Europe headquartered in

Stuttgart, Germany to better serve the European enthusiast community.

2007HRE moves into it’s new 60,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Vista, Ca.

1998-2002American Tuning companies commission HRE to design, develop and manufacture wheels for 220+ mph Corvettes and Vipers.

2011HRE-sponsored Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima sets a new world record of 9:51.278 at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb breaking the 10:00 barrier for the first time

in history on HRE P43S “Tajima Specials”.

Over the past 30 years, HRE’s dedication to Motorsport has come to define the brand. HRE is proud to sponsor several teams this 2012 season including entries in Grand-Am, NASA, SCCA as well as the famed Pike’s Peak Hill Climb. Every detail we learn from our Motorsport experience translates into each wheel we make.

Proper Fitment is a crucial factor in ensuring your wheels not only look their best, but also perform their best. HRE has 34 years of Fitment expertise you can count on. This section will guide you through the factors that make a great wheel fitment and what you’ll need to consider when making your final decision. Flush FitmentF-2 is a more aggressive fitment which may require suspension upgrades such as coilovers to lower vehicle to a specific height.

Generally, wheel will be flush with fender.

Tire fitment is very important and may require specific tire brands or camber adjustment to prevent fender contact.

May require fender rolling or other minor body modifications.

OE FitmentThis is the fitment your vehicle comes standard with from the factory.

Unless otherwise specified, HRE defaults to a minimum F-1 Fitment.

Aggressive FitmentF-3 is the most aggressive fitment requiring suspension upgrades such as airbags/coilovers and adjustable suspension arms to allow the vehicle to aggressively sit over the wheel and tire.

In most cases, this fitment also requires fender rolling or other fender modifications to allow the wheel and tire to sit within the wheel well without obstruction.

HRE’s 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility is TÜV approved; a prerequisite to sell wheels legally in Germany, Austria and some other European countries.

Why It’s Important And How We Achieve It

At HRE, we understand the importance of engineering lightweight wheels. Achieving low unsprung mass and low rotational inertia is essential to maintaining and enhancing the performance of your vehicle. Anyone can make a lightweight wheel by simply pulling out mass. The real challenge is to create a wheel that is lightweight AND strong. Ensuring long fatigue life, high stiffness and robust impact resistance is key to the creation of wheels that perform while being extremely safe. At HRE we fully understand the science behind this balancing act and without this attention to detail it simply wouldn’t be an HRE.

Examples Used by HRE to Create Lightweight Wheels:

Spoke Side Cuts Using I-Beam spoke geometry we remove “inefficient” material while maximizing strength and stiffness under high lateral g-forces.

Rim Register Pockets Removing small amounts of mass at the outer edges of our wheels has a huge effect on minimizing the rotational inertia, increasing acceleration and reducing stopping distances of the vehicle.

Back Pad Pockets Reducing additional unsprung mass close to the rotational axis of the wheel center ensures the highest levels of road-holding and vehicle dynamics.

FEA Computerized Finite Element Analysis allows us to analyze the strength and stiffness of wheels, making minute adjustments in order to maximize strength/weight ratios long before we cut a first prototype or send for structural testing.

Ti Bolts Using high strength Titanium assembly bolts removes an additional half-pound out of an already lightweight wheel; further reducing unsprung mass and rotational inertia.

We’ve searched the planet for the best components to build our wheels. We aren’t looking for the lowest cost, we’re looking for the highest quality… plain and simple.

• Not all forgings are created equal. We use the same US forging supplier as Ferrari and Boeing. With customers like that we’re confident we’ve picked the best forging partner in the world.

• Spun aluminum rim barrels are sourced in the USA from the best in the business; creating the truest and toughest barrels money can buy.

• Extra strong Italian lug bolts are standard on HRE wheels, preventing bolt stretch and potential wheel separation under the severest forms of driving.

• Custom-designed, lightweight Titanium assembly fasteners for our C90 and CL90 Competition Series are sourced from Germany to ensure unquestioned quality.

• We teamed up with acclaimed racing fastener manufacturer, Automotive Racing Products, to design and manufacture our high-strength stainless steel assembly bolts, standard on our 3-piece wheels.

Industrial-strength powder coat is applied in-house at HRE to create a beautiful yet resilient finish able to stand up to the harshest conditions.

We believe the best way to create a world-class product is to control as many aspects of its design, engineering, and production in-house as possible. HRE has invested heavily in our own 60,000 square foot facility near San Diego, California to do just that. From Design and Engineering, to CNC Programming and Machining, to Polishing and Powder Coat, to Shipping and Customer Service, every aspect of an HRE Wheel goes through our TÜV certified quality management system.
