HR Administrative Services Recommendation and Requirements

With ERP 6.0 SPS 09 the technology changes from Web Dynpro for Java to Web Dynpro for ABAP (Note 972322).

SAP recommends to implement Enhancement Package 2 or higher for SAP ERP 6.0!!!

If you cannot implement Enhancement Package 2 it is possible to still use the Java iviewstemporarily (SAP Note 1024326). Further development will only be done on the new technology Web Dynpro for ABAP.

HR Administrative Service (HRAS) includes the process framework HCM Processes and Forms and the portal role HR Administrator. Thus the Enterprise Portal EP 7.0, the Adobe Document Server and the new HR Administrator Role are required

HCM Processes and Forms is a cross role functionality for online HR-processes based on Web Dynpro. If you want other roles to be involved in the online processes(manager, employees) you need to implement the required Business Packages for Manager Self-Service and for Employee Self-Service.

Analytics content requires Business Warehouse (BW) 7.0 and Content Release 03 (BI CONT 703), SP 04

    MSS - Related Activities

Once you have activated the two switches HRASR_SFWS_UI_ENH_01 and HRASR_SFWS_UI_ENH_02 of the Business Functions HCM_ASR_CI_1 the required entries in the customizing tables of the Homepage Framework are automatically available.

The links displayed in the Related Activity iView can be customized via the Homepage Framework.

For each service a Service Key must be available in the Homepage Framework customizing table (V_T7XSSSERSRV)

The Service Keys must be assigned to the Subarea MSS_HCM_SUB_RELATEDACTIVITY_ESS For more information on how to get a new service link into the Related Activity iView refer to the MSS learning map of SAP ERP 6.0:

Related Activities for HCM Processes and Forms

Usually, a related activity link launches a portal page with the appropriate iView (application), the personnel number is transferred to the launched iView.

iViews on EE Information Page is based on Web Dynpro Java whereas HCM Processes and Forms is based on Web Dynpro ABAP

To launch the Web Dynpro ABAP iView via related activities (Java) a two step approach is needed.

When the user clicks on the link, e.g. for Personnel Digital File, a portal page with a Launcher iView is launched (Personnel number is transferred).

The launcher iView calls another portal page with the iView for the application. (e.g. for Personnel Digital File)

On the Employee Information Page the manager can select an employee from the EE Search iView (Object and Data Provider). All other iViews react on the selection and display data of the selected employee. Technically the personnel number is transferred from the search iView to the other iViews on the portal page, also to the related activity iView. This mechanism is called Eventing. The applications, started via the related activity iView, are launched with the personnel number as parameter. With other words the application, e.g. Address Change, can be directly started for the employee selected from the EE Search iView.

The Employee Information page is based on Web Dynpro for Java whereas HCM Processes and Forms is based on Web Dynpro ABAP. Due to the different technologies the transfer of the personnel number from a Web Dynpro Java (Related Activity) to a Web Dynpro ABAP iView (e.g. Digital Personnel File) is realized in a two step approach:

By clicking on the link for e.g. the digital personnel file a portal page with a launcher iView is called. The launcher iView calls another iView with which the Web Dynpro ABAP application can be displayed. As result the Personnel Digital File for the appropriate employee is displayed.

The eventing and the transfer of the personnel number only works FPM (Floor Plan Manager) internally from Web Dynpro Java to Web Dynpro Java iView. The two step approach allows to first transfer the pers number to the launcher iView. The pers number is then saved in the backend system (shared memory), where the Web Dynpro ABAP application can take it.

Display Form Add Page to Team Page

As a last step the Display Form page must be available on the TEAM page (the page with the iView from which the Display Form page is called) to create a connection between the operation and the portal role.

    Open the TEAM page

In the portal content tree navigate to the Display Form page of MSS. With the context menu add the Display Form page to the TEAM page.

The same must be done with the portal page Related Activity Launcher (Search Processes)

    ESS New ESS Role Version

In the former ESS Version the links to process start were provided in the Life and Work Event workset. Now the links are provided in worksets to which the process refers (e.g. the process start of Change Working Time is provided in workset Working Time)

With EhP2 SAP also provides a new ESS role version including new HCM Processes and Forms-iViews for the Employee.

With the new iView Status Overview employees can monitor open processes in which they are involved

The processes available with EhP1 are also included in the Navigation of the ESS Homepage Framework

    ESS Start Process

The start application of the employee is different to the start application of Managers and HR Administrator. Employees can directly launch the form (the screen for selecting an employee or a process is not needed for the employee).

With the Status Overview iView they can monitor and check the status of all the processes they are involved in.
