FY 2013 PROFIT / LOSS REPORTnumbers are in thousands
CVMC is one of Vermont’s top ten service firms; one of top five non-profits. Central Vermont Medical Center employs 1,529 full, part time and per diem people at the hospital, National Life Cancer Treatment Center, CVMC Rehab Services, CVMC ExpressCARE, 17 medical group practices and Woodridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. CVMC is the third largest health care facility in Vermont, ranked by revenue.*
175 volunteers served 21,000 hours. This includes 7 teams of volunteers with therapy dogs that serve the hospital and Woodridge Nursing.
There are 183 physicians practicing in central Vermont who providecare from private practices as well as from CVMC’s 17 community-based medical group practices and the hospital. This includes Active and Affiliate physicians and our Hospitalists. There are also 18 consulting physicians from Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC) and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) with privileges at CVMC, seven moonlighting psychiatry residents from FAHC/DHMC and two moonlighting anesthesiology fellows from FAHC.
CVMC Rehab Services has 31 Physical Therapists, 2 Speech and Language Pathologists and 5 Occupational Therapists at 9 locations in central Vermont.
The CVMC emergency department had 28,390 patient visits.
There were 3,594 inpatient and outpatient surgeries at CVMC.
There were 376 births were born a our Bithing Center.
There were 4,576 hospital admissions including observations.
CVMC contracts with Deaf Talk to provide on-demand 24 hours-a-day American Sign Language video-interpreting via a wireless mobile video unit which can be wheeled anywhere in the hospital.
CVMC subscribes to DT Language which provides access to 150 languages, 24 hours per day over the telephone. We have special dual handset phones available throughout the hospital to accommodate non-English speaking patients.

CHARITY CARE
At CVMC, we make sure that patients receive the care they need,regardless of their ability to pay. Financial counselors at CVMC pro-
actively work with low-income patients, or those identified as uninsured or with high balances, to make sure they get the assistance they need to enroll in one of the state’s programs Medicaid or Dr. Dinasaur—or apply for the free or reduced care offered by CVMC. CVMC’s Healthcare Assurance Program provides up to 100% free care based on a patient’s household income and medical bill balance. Our counselors also provide patients with information and assistance in getting on the Vermont Health Connect insurance plans.
