Important note for customers upgrading from QC 10In ALM 11 dependencies were introduced between permission items. Currently, permission for creating an entity requires permission for updating it. Fixed Defects

Installation & UpgradeQCCR1J70800 After migrating from Quality Center 10 to later versions, the sort order of filters saved as Favorites was unexpectedly changed.

Site AdminQCCR1J70106 When copying or exporting/importing a project or a template project with the ALI extension enabled, certain table primary keys were not created in the database of the project or the template.

QCCR1J69734 When creating a new project by copying an existing project was terminated in the middle due to connection issues between the client and the server, trying to renew the process (selecting the “Continue project” link in the Project Details page of the new project in Site Administration) could result in an error message: "Failed to Continue Project; Failed to continue project borrow; Unable to load data from file 'C:\ProgramData\HP\ALM\server\project-schema\11.50\db_xmlmap.xml'; project-schema\11.50\db_xmlmap.xml (The system cannot find the path specified);"

QCCR1J69377 During upgrade from QC10 with Oracle DB, the upgrade process timed out and was not successful.

QCCR1J70312 Upgrading a project from QC 10 / ALM 11 to ALM 11.52 took longer than expected due to the "BPT runtime parameters to test parameters" upgrader.

QCCR1J70806 In some cases email functionality did not work as expected.

QCCR1J69980 Automail did not work as expected on projects with the ALI 2.6 extension enabled

GeneralQCCR1J69810 When Region and Language format on the client machine was set to Hungarian and the short date was formatted yyyy.MM.dd., trying to export elements from the Test Plan and Requirements modules resulted in an error: "Could not export to a file."

QCCR1J70134 Setting the client machine's Regional Settings date format to ‘ddMMMyyyy’ caused unexpected errors when logging in to the ALM client.

CustomizationQCCR1J72313 In a version-control enabled project, if a follow-up alert was set on a test in which a test parameter was defined, the follow-up message was not sent correctly.

QCCR1J72333 Errors occurred when clicking Project lists in the Customization page

QCCR1J28136 A workflow event was not triggered in some scenarios from custom commands in additional toolbar buttons.

QCCR1J69721 The legacy workflow function "TestSet_CanDelete (Entity,IsTestSet)" always had the "IsTestSet" parameter set to False.

QCCR1J69193 If a simple workflow was in place in the bug_moveto sub, adding an attachment when creating a new defect caused the attachment to be added three times, and the following error was displayed:“You don’t have the required permissions to execute this action”.

QCCR1J70199 In a project with very several hundred customization lists, saving changes took longer than expected.

QCCR1J68732 Login time took longer than expected because of non-optimized calls to the 'GetProjectsAutomaticUpgradeInfo' function.

AnalysisQCCR1J68356 When creating a Business View Graph and setting the Y-axis to "Sum Of", a warning message "No fields for selected aggregation type" was displayed.

QCCR1J68697 ALM did not work as expected when synchronizing libraries across migrated ALM 11.52 projects.

QCCR1J68243 In the Requirements module, when changing the requirement type in Req_New workflow event, the rich text field could not load the requirement rich text template in New Requirement dialogue.

QCCR1J70746 Exporting Rich Text fields to PDF caused Japanese 2-byte characters to appear corrupted in the output file.

LABQCCR1J71412 The RDP client terminated unexpectedly when trying to connect to a remote host with the Lab Service auto-login property enabled.

Testing ModulesQCCR1J68761 In the Design Steps tab, after copy/pasting or deleting a step, the scroll bar would return to the top.

QCCR1J72210 An extremely large number of test instances in a project could lead to out of memory errors on the ALM Server.

QCCR1J71195 Opening of tests linked to many repository resources could take longer than expected when using MS-SQL as a DB server.

QCCR1J72237 Large reports or repository files were not downloaded successfully when the performance of the repository file system was not good.

QCCR1J69383 Accessing the Requested Hosts tab of test sets in the Test Lab module took longer than expected.

IntegrationQCCR1J68537 When running a build verification suite with the deprovision option selected, ALM did not deprovision the platform if there was an error during deployment.

QCCR1J65478 Unified Functional Testing 11.52 could not connect to ALM PC11.52 with FORCE_LOGIN_SSL_MODE option enabled.

QCCR1J69824 Repository files were not downloaded successfully if the performance of the repository file system was not good.

Business Process TestingQCCR1J68899 When the ALM window was resized or a window's splitter was moved while editing steps in the Business Process Testing Manual Implementation tab, some of the new additions could disappear.

QCCR1J70019 When multiple automatic runner windows were pointed to the same host group, the second automatic runner window would eventually encounter RPC errors and report back 'No Hosts Available'.

QCCR1J72435 When trying to sync between two baselines, after renaming a business component parameter and deleting another parameter that was promoted from this business component, the sync failed.

QCCR1J69998 When Business Process Testing test cases sharing an identical component were copied to another project using 'link to existing entities', if a parameter was added to this component using Unified Functional Testing, the component was duplicated in the target project instead of being shared by the test cases sharing it in the original project.

QCCR1J70800 When changing the name of a Business Component parameter in a versioned project and then clicking "Check-In" without moving to another cell in the parameters grid, the new name of the component parameter was not saved.

Server-Side System Requirements

Following are the server system configurations for installing HP ALM 11.5x, HP ALM Essentials, and HP Quality Center Enterprise 11.52 on Windows, Linux, and Solaris.

Note that these requirements do not apply if you are utilizing Managed Software Solutions for HP ALM or HP Quality Center Enterprise. In that case, the Managed Software Solutions team provides a hosted version of HP ALM or HP Quality Center Enterprise, so the only requirements are the Client-Side System Requirements listed below.

 All database servers, unless otherwise stated, have been validated on 64 bit configurations.

Due to the rapidly evolving architectures provided by Virtualization vendors as long as the above stated vendor guarantees full compatibility of the virtualized environment to the HP ALM/QC approved system requirements for physical hardware, then HP ALM/QC will function as designed.

3. Make a backup copy of the file "run_after_finish.bat".

4. Open the file "run_after_finish.bat" to edit.

2. Go to <Your Path>\Win64.

Windows 8 support is limited to the following scenarios:

On a Windows 8 host, you can run or edit a UFT, BPT, or Load Runner test that is stored in ALM.

If the automation engine of an automated test is on a Windows 8 machine, you can execute the test by accessing the ALM client from a host with a fully-supported Operating System.

DCOM Notes:

If you are integrating ALM with other HP testing tools, you must modify the DCOM permissions on your client machine. For more information, see HP Software Self-solve knowledge base article KM187086.

DCOM is not required for running Functional test sets (server-side execution). Functional test sets are available only in ALM Edition.

To verify that the client process is running in the emulation mode, open the Windows Task Manager Processes tab. All 32 bit processes should be marked with *32.

Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for Microsoft Windows Server

ALM 11.52 patch 4 can be installed only on ALM 11.52 GA Full version.

Before installing ALM Patch 4:

1. Verify what version of ALM 11.5x is currently installed on the server.

On the ALM server, select Control Panel > Programs and Features or Control Panel > Add Remove Programs.

If 11.52.000 is listed in the Version column, then you are using 11.52 GA Full version.

Click View installed updates to check if you have patch 1 installed.

If 11.50.00 is listed in the Version column, then your installation is 11.50 with/ without additional

patches and service packs.

 

There is no need to view installed updates.

2. Follow the steps below for the version of ALM 11.5x that is currently installed on the server.

If you are using ALM 11.52 GA Full installation with no patches:Install ALM 11.52 patch 4.

If you are using ALM 11.52 GA Full installation with patch 1:a. Uninstall patch 1

b. Repair 11.52 GA Full (Can be downloaded from https://h20575.www2.hp.com/ecommerce/efulfillment/downloadpage.do . After logging in, choose HP Application Lifecycle Management 11.50 + SP2.)

In Setup.msi, select Repair.

c. Install ALM 11.52 patch 4

If you are using ALM 11.52 GA Full installation with patch 2 or patch 3:Install ALM 11.52 patch 4.

If you are using ALM 11.50 GA Full (with/without patches & service packs):a. Uninstall 11.50 GA Full. (When you uninstall the full version, all patches and service packs are

automatically uninstalled.) For more information on uninstalling, see the HP Application Lifecycle Management Installation & Upgrade Guide.

b. Install 11.52 GA Full

c. Install ALM 11.52 patch 4

Important: Before upgrading from ALM 11.50 to ALM 11.52, it is recommended to back up the LAB Project.

Installing ALM Patch 4 It is recommended that you use the executable (EXE) file for installing the patch.

The MSP file is mandatory for proper execution of the ALM EXE installer. The file should be kept in place.

For MSP installation:Executing the MSP version instead of executing the installer’s executable (EXE) requires termination of the ALM server’s system-tray icon process. Executing the MSP version without terminating the system-tray icon process may result in a malfunction of the ALM server.

To stop ALM’s server system-tray icon processes:o Open CMD window as administrator and type the following command:

>taskkill.exe /F /IM ALMTrayIcon.exe

To install the patch:o Open CMD window as administrator and type the following command:

>msiexec /p SP2PATCH04.msp REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=emus

Multi-language Support

UNICODE Compliance You can enter text in more than one non-English language, when working with an Oracle UTF-8 database. For MS-SQL databases, you can define your projects as Unicode to allow multi-language support. You can also convert existing MS-SQL projects to be Unicode compliant. In addition, you can enter non-English text regardless of the system locale setting on the ALM client machine. However, if the ALM servers are not Unicode compliant, non-English characters entered on the ALM client machine appear as question marks.

Multi-language Support To enable multi-lingual support the DB and FS servers must support Unicode. Unicode is a feature of MS-SQL that allows multi-language support. In Oracle, multi-language support is defined when installing the server.

Fixed Defects

Business Process TestingQCCR1J66498 When selecting the Add Snapshot on the Snapshot tab of Business Components module, ALM did not minimize to allow a clean snapshot of the screen.

QCCR1J66847 Trying to modify the On Failure setting on a checked-in Business Process Test forced a check out, however the version control operation in combination with the change prevented the change from being posted on check in.

QCCR1J68738 After upgrading to ALM 11.52, when trying to open the Iterations dialog for a group in a Business Process Test, the following error message appeared where one or more of the group’s business components had no parameters: “Cannot open the Iterations dialog box since not all of the component instances inside the group have the same number of iterations. Ungroup and fix the number of iterations”

QCCR1J66141 When a Business Component or a Flow had a parameter whose default value contained the character "&", the value of the corresponding parameter in static configurations of Business Process Tests to which this business component (or Flow) belonged was truncated.

Test ManagementQCCR1J66755 When continuing a manual run and closing the manual runner form by clicking the "X", there was no confirmation dialog and the run was not saved.

QCCR1J67154 Setting field values in Manual Runner via workflow stopped working on the second iteration in some rare environment configurations. Manual runner workflow now refers to the correct entity even in rare scenarios where Manual Runner loses focus during event execution.

AnalysisQCCR1J63479 When generating a standard project report for Tests with Design Steps, the steps were ordered in descending order and not in their original order.

QCCR1J67252 In ALM 11.5x when using German language regional settings, an error resulted when updating a masked user defined field with a custom format.

QCCR1J67066 When opening the Attachment tab on a client machine with Bulgarian regional settings, an error was displayed and the attachment could not be opened.

CustomizationQCCR1J67585 When using a specific workflow script inside Run_MoveTo and Bug_MoveTo, the email icon appeared on fields on which it should not have appeared.

QCCR1J68447 The "Item does not exist" error message was incorrectly displayed when using dynamic lists created by workflow.

Defect ModuleQCCR1J69069 After applying the ALM Chinese patch 9, the Chinese characters were displayed smaller than before.

IntegrationsThis patch provides support for integration between HP ALM and SAP Solution Manager using the Business Process Change Analyzer (BPCA) feature of HP Enterprise Integration Module 11.52 for SAP Applications.  BPCA is an application within SAP Solution Manager that helps users execute a change impact analysis and perform risk-based test planning. Integration between HP ALM and SAP Solution Manager allows users to create and modify a test set that was based on changed test objects tracked by BPCA. For information, see the chapter about BPCA in the HP Enterprise Integration Module for SAP Applications User Guide.

Limitations:

1. Upgrades are possible from ALM 11 (EI 2.7). If you have an existing EI project in ALM 11.52 (before patch2), refer to QCCR1J68351 for a manual workaround
