C.V.B. valvole industriali S.r.l. is an Italian leading manufacturing company located at 25 Km. north of

Milan and established in 2004 to provide top quality metal to metal triple offsets torque seated quarter

they can present a thirty year experience in the Valve Market due to both their management and em-

ployees consolidated presence either in the Industrial and Petrochemical Valve Markets. During these

Butterfly valve for High Performance with metal seated or elastomer with double off-set ( H.P. butterfly valves )

have a wider diffusion in all the applications where there are higher requirements compared to the ones related

to the conventional rubber lined butterfly while they present same advantages compared to other conventional

valves as far as weight and ease to automate are concerned.

Their utilization as either isolation and control valves ranges through different type of applications and fluids in

the process lines. They can satisfy specific requirements in the iron and steel, ship building, food and beverege,

chemical and petrochemical, steam and power plant, vacuum systems, district heating, gas plant. Main features

and benefits are:

• Compact size and light weight

• Top flange in according to EN/ISO 5211

• Single piece valve body with override safety block

• Single piece shaft made of 17-4 PH which gives max. rigidity made in such a way it does not require any

maintenance, longer lenght, protection against corrosion, stability at high temperatures shaft bearings in

PTFE coated NI-Resist or SS , to assure a perfect centered assembly.

• Thrust bearing shaft with anti blow out safety ring

• Seat in PTFE,AISI 316 o INCONEL, pressure assisted, allows a tight shut-off with all working pressure. A

seat retainer ring in AISI 316 ensures the seat stability.

• Seat, in addition, has a grafoil gasket which can ensure leakage seal through it and is kept in its position

by the retainer ring which protects from erosion and abrasion for long operating life.

• Even in case of long idle time the thightness is ensured because its stability and there is any difficulty for

the valve to operate.

• Shaft and disc offsets allow low operating torques because they make possible a fast detachment from the

seat while it is opening with lower frictions reducing its wear allowing, meanwhile, a flow characteristic

curve with, almost, an equal percentage shape.

Single piece designed for toughest service, greater accuracy and

reduced deflection.

ACTUATOR MOUNTING

ISO 5211 - accepts any type of actuation: Lever, Gear,Pneumatic

or Electric. The low torque requirement permits the use of small,

less expensive and more compact actuators.

PACKING

Field replaceable, excellent sealing, heat resistant with corrosion

resistant properties.

STEM BEARINGS

Made of PTFE/RPTFE, NI-Resist securely positioned close to the

disc for minimum stem and disc deflection.

DISC

Reduced turbulence, pressure drop, dynamic operating torque.

STAINLESS STEEL PINS.

Connect shaft and disc. Pins are paralle to the disc to prevent

through leakage in close position.

VALVE BODY

Wafer or Lug, compact and Heavy duty for easy maintenance

SEAT RETAINER

Protects the seat from erosion and abrasion for long operating

life. Seat can be replaced without disassembly of stem and disc.

THRUST BEARINGS

Keep the disc centered.

DOUBLE OFFSET

The axis of the disc rotation is double offset to the

seat. When the disc rotates it unseats at a small

turning angle by its cam effect. This out standing

feature enables:

• Bubble tight shut - off over extended period

of service.

• Greatly reduced seat wear.

• Reduced the torque peak experienced with

conventional valves

SPHERICAL DISC

Double offset shapes the disc portion interested to

the contact with the seat as spherical edge which

makes the sealing contact perfectly homogeneous

uninterrupted and smoothly.

FIRE SAFE

A secondary lip type, pressure assisted, metal seat gives

bi-directional sealing once the PTFE seat burns away

after the fire.

Certified by Lloyds Register of Industrial Services. As per

API 607 4th Edition.

CV, imperial units ( CV= Flow rate GPM with 1 psi pressure drop ) allow to set the valve Nominal Diameter

depending on the fluid working condition .

Once the CV has been calculated , select the correct valve diameter by using the relevant CV valve data sheet in

order to have the calculated CV at almost 80 % of the relevant CV valve data.

Case 1° = Absolute outlet pressure greater than 50 % of the absolute inlet pressure.

Case 2° = Absolute outlet pressure equal or lower than 50 % of the absolute inlet pressure.

Corrective factor for viscous liquids f

For viscous liquids multiply calculated CV values by the

corrective factors ( f ) shown on the leftside, according

to the liquid viscosity , expressed in degrees Engler °E.

Note: When the liquid temperature is close to the its

saturation temperature, the fluid follows different fisical

rules.

Case 1° = Absolute outlet pressure greater than 50 % of the absolute inlet pressure.

Case 2° = Absolute outlet pressure equal or lower than 50 % of the absolute inlet pressure.




1.0 GENERAL

• Thnk you on having bought CVB valves. We assure you the performance shown in this

catalogue. However proper storage, neat installation, gentle operation and a timely

maintenance enhances valve performance and life. • Upon delivery, inspect the valve for any shipping damage.

• As per the packing slip placed inside the box, verify the goods received. Items pace loose

within the box are separately identified in the packing slip. Check for short supply if any. 2.0 STORAGE

• Store all valves duly covered by plastic bags until installation.

• CAUTION: avoid possible entry of any foreign particles such as dirt, mud, sand, etc. into

the valve and actuators in order to protect the valve seat and actuator mechanism. • If the storage or service requirement is delayed beyond 6 months, then clean the valve

seat and disc sealing edge by silicon emulsion and operate the valve 3 or 5 times, from

open to close position and keep the valve in slightly open position before installation.

3.0 INSTALLATION

• Valve may be installed in any position - horizontal, vertical or any angle and for in either

direction.

• Ensure that specification mentioned over the name plate are in line with requirements as

regards to valve size, material of construction, working pressure and temperature

• Ensure that dimension “ d “ is smaller than pipe ID to avoid disc damage.

• CAUTION: Ensure to blow-out or flush-out from the pipeline thorouhgly before the

installation. • Since these valves are wafer design and sandwitched between two pipeline flanges,

please follow the instructions as per sheets 03 of 04 and 04 of 04.

• Ensure that the valve is freely accessibile to the operator and sufficient head room is

available for operation. Since these are high pressure valves, do not use any rubber

gasket.

4.0 OPERATION

• Operate the valve slowly from “ close “ to “ open “ position and ensure free movement

( clockwise-close ) if disc is touching to pipe ID, it indicates that valve is not properly

mounted in line with the pipe centerline. Adjust the valve till operates freely. • Disc should be turned to full open position after flange alignment and before evenly

pulling up full quantity of flange bolts.

5.0 MAINTENANCE

• Periodically inspect the installed valves. If there is any leakage found through body or pipe

flanges , immediately remove the pressure from pipeline and take-out the valve from the pipeline, and replace it with new valve-seat.

• If there is any leakage found through stem and gland packing, tighten the gland flange till the

leakage stops. If packing rings are fully worn-out, then replace with new packings.

• If leakage is noticed through disc & seat , ( not applicable for metal seated valves ) remove the

pressure from pipeline and take out valve from pipeline. Ensure that valve is in closed position before you pull out the valve from pipeline.

• DISASSEMBLY:

. Remove the seat retainer by unscrewing the retainer screw with alen-key. . Throughly check all parts for reusability.

. If everything is found ok, then replace only “ PTFE “ seat with new one.

. If stem bearings and thrust bearings have to be replaced then remove the actuator from the valve, remove the gland-flange, gland & gland-packing from the valve and pull

out the stem after removing the taper pins between disc & stem. Take out the stem bearings and thrust bearings from the body. Clean all the parts thoroughly in soap

water solution.

• Replace bearing with new ones and reverse the disassembly procedure to reassemble the valve

• Ensure that all components are properly assembled and all screws are properly tightened.

7.0 INSTALLATION ON THE LINE

• Prior to the installation, pipelines should be throughly cleaned free from weld slugs, rust, scale

and other dust inside pipings and on flange surfaces ( Fig. 1 )

• Valve should be in the closed position when either installed or removed from a pipeline. Avoid

misalignment to pipeline and distortion of flanges or gaskets, all of which will cause leakage from joints.

• Fit the valve on the pipeline with gaskets into its position with care to avoid any damage on

joint surfaces.( FIG. 2 )

• After the valve alignment on the pipeline, tighten all bolts carefully by giving a balanced load

distribution on all the bolts. Bear in mind that an incorrect flange joint can destroy the seat.

• After the installation, “ open “ and “ close “ the valve to evaluate if there is interference

between disc and pipeline.
