How would you treat a rude patient?
A rude patient should be respected, like any other patient. We
should respecthis opinions and rihts e!en thouh we consider his
beha!ior is not appropriate in
the i!en situation.
"sually a rude patient is a scared patient , and the lack o#
co$$unication
between hi$ and the doctor only $akes it worse. Most o# the
patients are scared
because they are not correctly in#or$ed or not in#or$ed at all
about what is oin
to happen durin the e%a$ination. &eople react di'erently
when it co$es to (not
knowin) because they #eel they don*t ha!e control o!er their
li!es any$ore. +o$e
people are shy and uiet, others are rude. We are oblied to
e%plain each patient
what is the procedure , in si$ple words, in order #or hi$ to
understand and not to
#eel in#erior.
I belie!e that a reasonable patient treated with respect and
patience has no
$oti!es to be rude. I# the patient continues to be rude despite
our e'orts , we ha!e
the $oral obliation to be kind , patient, and e%plain e!erythin
all o!er aain.
"nder no circu$stances we should allow oursel!es to beco$e rude,
because we will
lose the respect o# other patients and our sel# respect.
