What Causes Companies to Change Business Solutions?
Software doesn’t address the current business requirements
Company is growing – the software can’t scale with it
Data from remote sites has to be uploaded as batch files
Remote users cannot access their business programs
Plethora of disconnected applications don’t talk to each other– Expensive to maintain– Have to re-enter data– Can’t get accurate business intelligence for decision support– Can’t customize the existing software

Should I Stay or Should I Go?
If I StayCan’t growHave to buy more software for things mine can’t doUpgrade each packageUpgrade my hardwareKeep a sizable IT staffSpend more to know less
If I Go+ New software+ Scalability+ Easy to integrate+ Lower costs+ Upgrade is complex anyway+ Investment will pay off
— Expensive to change packages— Have to train everyone — Disruptive, lost time— Several new vendors— Someone will have to help
