How to reduce Carbon Dioxide Emmisions in your home
-One way to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide is to turn down the heat on your thermostat.
- It is proven that by doing this you will save money on your energy bill and reduce the amount of carbon
dioxide given off.
Solar Paneling
• Solar Paneling is pricey when first installed, but it is virtually free because it absorbs the suns rays in order to produce energy.
• There is also a tax rebate when they are purchased, so over about ten years solar paneling pays for itself.
• Solar Paneling costs from $20,000 to $100,000 depending on the size of your home and the size of the panels.
Home appliances
• Many home appliances that are over a certain age aren’t as energy efficient as todays appliances, so if an appliance is over ten years old, it is time to replace it.
• If you change 25%of your lightbulbs to energy efficient ones, you could save up to half of your lighting bill.
• Plugging electronics into power strips will increase savings because they can be turned off.
Energy efficient cars
• Many cars that are manufactured today are fuel efficient and can get up to 45 miles per gallon.
• Most of them only range from $15,000 - $30,000.
• They may seem pricey at first, but in just a few years they will pay off themselves in terms of the amount of gas that you don’t have to purchase.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
• Reducing your waste emmisions by purchasing products with less packaging, recycled packaging, ect. will reduce the amount of CO2 given off.
• Try as often as you can to reuse products such as plastic bags, glass bottles, and paper.
• Today it is possible to recycle plastic bottles, newspapers, glass bottles, and aluminum cans through your weekly garbage pick-up.
Wind Power
• Many companies today are converting energy into wind energy using windmills.
• By 2024, 25% of companies will be using wind energy.
• Usually, successful, but it obliviously cannot be the primary source of energy.
