Verify that your school has the equipment needed for scanning 4Sight answer sheets: the Brother DCP-8040 or DCP-8060 scanner connected to a Windows- based computer. 2. Verify that student information with student IDs has been entered into the Member Center. (See Member Center Resource Guide-Admin Section- Data Imports.) 3. Log on to the Member Center using your Member Center ID and password. On the Member Center menu, select Testing Center. In the Testing Center, select Set up Tests. Set up all of the 4Sight tests that you plan to administer for the school year. Be careful to select the correct grading period, grade, test number, and version. For more details on how to set up tests, see Member Center Resource Guide-Testing Center-Setting up Tests. Open the 4Sight software program by looking in the computer’s Start menu, under Programs, and selecting 4Sight. When the 4Sight program is open, you will see Main Menu. On this menu, select Upload and Download Data.

How to Prepare for 4Sight Scanning1. Verify that your school has the equipment needed for scanning 4Sight answer

sheets: the Brother DCP-8040 or DCP-8060 scanner connected to a Windows-based computer.

2. Verify that student information with student IDs has been entered into the Member Center. (See Member Center Resource Guide-Admin Section-Data Imports.)

3. Log on to the Member Center using your Member Center ID and password. On the Member Center menu, select Testing Center. In the Testing Center, select Set up Tests. 4. A window requesting User Name and Password will appear. Enter your Member Center User ID and password.

5. Then click Download Data from the Member Center.

Directions for Scanning 4Sight Answer Sheets with a Brother

Scanner

You need to download data from the Member Center only the very fi rst time

you scan, or if new students have been added to your school population, or

if new tests have been set up on the Member Center.

6. Once the computer has completed this download (two parts), it will give you a message saying that each part of the download was successful. Click OK for each part.

7. Make sure your students used machine-scannable answer sheets to record their 4Sight Benchmark answers.

Directions for Scanning 4Sight Answer Sheets with a Brother Scanner1. Only one classroom of answer sheets should be scanned at a time.2. Page through the answer sheets to ensure they are all face up with the head of

each page in the same direction. Pull out any answer sheets on which students have made marks other than the answers on the page, ripped answer sheets, etc. Repair these sheets so they can be scanned, or transfer student answers to a fresh page.

3. Place the answer sheets face up in the feeder tray of the scanner, with the top of the answer sheet feeding into the machine fi rst. Ensure the answer sheets are aligned and the guides on the side of the feeder tray are snug against the answer sheets.

4. Open the 4Sight software program by looking in the computer’s Start Menu, under Programs, and selecting 4Sight.

5. When the 4Sight program is open, you will see Main Menu. On this menu, select Scan Tests using Barcodes or Scan Tests/Check Scans. If you are using answer sheets with barcodes, proceed to Step 7.

6. This will open a window with a list of tests. Click the Scan Scores button that corresponds to the test that matches the test name printed on the top of the answer sheets. Answer sheets must be grouped by test, you CANNOT MIX answer sheets from various tests.

7. This will open another window listing all scanners used with your computer. Select the Brother scanner with the TW prefi x.

8. At this point, the answer sheets will begin to feed through the scanner. The scanner and the computer have some work to do, and you can sit back and relax because this could take some time.

9. The “bad” scans will be fi ltered and viewed fi rst. There is a comment box below the picture of the scan, which should tell you what is wrong with the scan.

10. On this screen you can use the arrow buttons to click through the classroom of answer sheets that were just scanned to confi rm that each student’s ID was picked up (the correct student name should appear) and that the answers were picked up correctly. If minor corrections are needed with one or two sheets, click the Edit button next to the Student ID or answer box that needs to be corrected.

Once the scan is corrected, click the Mark as Good button. After all scans are marked as good, the following message will appear. Click OK.

11. If you fi nd that the majority of the answer sheets were not scanned correctly, delete the scans and re-scan the entire stack of answer sheets, ensuring that the pages are aligned and fi t snugly in the feeder tray of the scanner.

12. Once the scanning process is complete and any necessary corrections have been made, you can upload your scans to the Member Center.

13. Click the Upload button on the scan screen; you will get a message asking if you want to upload all good scans. Click Yes.

14. A window requesting User Name and Password will appear. Enter your Member Center User ID and password, and click Upload Tests to Member Center.

15. A message will display when the upload is complete.

16. You can continue to scan another set of answer sheets immediately after scanning your fi rst set of answer sheets, without downloading your data again from the Member Center. The students’ scores will be available on the Member Center the day after you scan.
