What I mean by this is that as soon as you hit the stage, you have to start to read the crowd. Read the temperature of the crowd. Are they jumping and cheering? Or are they just sitting in their seats politely applauding you? Are they a hot audience, lukewarm, or a cold audience? Tip #2 - Don't Ask For Audience Participation Until... It is great to get the audience involved in your performance by asking the audience to participate. However, you must read your audience first. You are going to feel real silly if you ask them to clap their hands or wave their hands, and you end up being the only one doing this. Now you may have some people that are wanting to participate with you and when they see more of the crowd not participating, then they will end up doing the same thing and they won't want to participate either. So the question is, how do you get around this? A good way to get around this is for you to lead the audience into audience participation. If you want the audience to participate, you wave your hands a couple of times first. If you aren't getting any positive feedback, then you can go on with your performance and not ask for any participation. If they start to wave their hands, then you can continue waving with them. Remember that getting crowd participation is like asking them for their respect. If you have shown them a couple of times how to do the waving of the hands, then they will loosen up and you have earned their respect in the process. This is a great way to avoid any embarrassment on your part. Remember that if you want to interact with the crowd and you want the crowd to interact and participate with you follow these freestyle rap performance tips. Following these tips will allow your audience to have a good time and you will enjoy the performance along with them. To Your Freestyle Rap Success, Mike M.
