Current, former and prospective players Based on your facilities, enthusiasm & volunteer engagement 2 WHAT IS SOCCERFEST? Showcases what is best about AYSO Creates AYSO environment for families Spotlights a fun, fair and safe format Utilizes a relaxed pick-up game atmosphere 3 WHAT IS SOCCERFEST? One-day fun tournament Individual players, teams or both Teams created as players arrive Age ranges from U-8 to U-19 You choose Boys, Girls or Co-ed 4 WHY HAVE A SOCCERFEST? 1. Players and coaches get acquainted with others outside their regular teams 2. Lots of publicity 3.Fundraising opportunities 5 GET STARTED Start now Schedule it into your spring soccer Save as a registration date Reserve fields or alternate space 6 PLANNING Whats an available date? Who do we invite? How many possible participants? Get on the Region/Area/Section calendar. If charging a fee, how much? How many games should be scheduled? Are referees going to be available? Do we have enough volunteers? 7 FUNDRAISING No pre-set participation fees up to you Region keeps ALL monies (except SAI) Consider sponsors and/or vendors Sell event t-shirts Include Soccer Carnival activities 8 Make It a Registration Event ! Take advantage of the publicity Sign up kids & volunteers! Reach out to former players; sign up returning kids Invite new kids to AYSO 9 SPRING REGISTRATION DAY Celebrate May as National Fitness Month - Have a Soccerfest/Carnival 10 SOCCERFEST THEMES Tie the event to a holiday of the month March/April Spring Fling June/July Americas Birthday Party October Spooky Soccer Saturday November - Turkey Trot 11 WHO CAN PLAY? Choose what works best for your Region U-8 to U-19: any age groups, your choice Girls, Boys and/or Co-ed Add U-5 & U-6 Jamboree style 12 CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL Level 1: Just be part of it A casual, fun soccer day Level 2: Registration event Get a head start or a catch up on late registrations for next season Level 3: Recruitment Event Invite families to sample AYSO Level 4: Community Happening! Put AYSO on your towns map! 13 Level 1: Just Join In! Add vendors & sponsors Invite local celebs 18 ASSIGNING TEAMS 1.Players sign-up as individuals 2.Players assigned to teams as they arrive 3.Players assigned to team by numbering each player randomly (All players with the same number are on the same team.) 19 SAMPLE Equipment Checklist 1 set pop-up goals per mini-field 4 corner flags or cones per mini-field Pinnies Balls Standard game-day stufffirst aid kits, trash bins, marking equipment (if used) Tables, chairs, supplies for onsite admin 20 SOCCERFEST PICK-UP FORMAT 4v4 or 5v5 20 minute games, 10 minutes between games No goalkeepers 4 micro fields on one regular size field Coaches & refs keep it safe & positive 21 Want a More Traditional Format? You can simply shuffle your spring teams Shorten game times Set up a Round Robin schedule Choose a format that is simple and easy for you to administer 22 BASIC GAME RULES KEEP IT SIMPLE Shin guards and shoes for all Pinnies to differentiate teams Coin toss should determine direction and possession at start of each game Pop-up goals for each field Cones to mark touchlines & corners 23 STILL KEEPING IT SIMPLE 24 No offside rule Goal kicks taken from the goal line Kick-ins instead of throw-ins Penalty kicks taken from half line Everybody has funplayers and volunteers alike! Thinkpick-up!
