How to Log on & Log offof a Laptop

and why it’s important.

Logging on• Before you can begin

working, you must log on to your laptop.

• Follow the directions on the screen to begin the log on process.

• Enter your username and password here.

• Click on the arrow to log on.

Your Desktop

• After logging on, your laptop will open to your desktop. From there, you can begin working.• After you have

finished working, it is necessary to log off.

Why should we log off of the laptop? Why is it important?

Logging off:

• prevents unauthorized access to your files.• ensures open documents will be backed up by

the server.• saves power.• closes all of the programs you were working in.• makes sure what you were looking at and doing

is not seen by others.

Logging Off

• To log off from your desktop, go to the “Start” button and click once.• Move your mouse

over to “Log off” and click once.• The laptop will begin

the log off process.
