Thanksgiving is a time of family and giving. We are having our food drive
NEXT SUNDAY, November 16th. Our church family will be collecting and giving back to the community. We encourage
everyone to bring non-perishable items that day. Collection teams will be at all main doors for easy drop-off before Sunday school and Worship service. Baskets are also available at several places around the building. We are currently giving out food on the first and third
Wednesdays of each month. Our pantry shelves are extremely low due to excessively high demand. We try to put an assortment of 8-10 items in each bag.
We need to continue to bring food after the food drive is over, to insure that our pantry doesn’t reach a critical low level again.
Thanks to the congregation for all efforts to help the pantry.
No one should ever go hungry.
The Preschool Dept needs your help! The church pantry is running extremely low right now and needs
to be replenished as soon as possible. The Preschool Department is promoting a canned food drive the
next two months. If you have a child in the preschool department, please encourage your child to help
others in need by helping them participate in this effort! Bring a canned item to Bible class each week!
You never know how just one CAN, CAN make a difference.

CHRISTIAN ETHICS – ABORTION
Abortion on demand allows a woman to get an abortion for any reason. One doctor, testifying before a committee of the Alabama State Legislature a number of years ago, told on one woman who obtained an abortion because she was going on a cruise to Europe with her husband and it would be a bur-den on her to make that trip while pregnant! If we can end a life because it is a burden on us, I wonder what will happen as we grow older and are no longer able to care for ourselves. Perhaps our children will say, “My parents are a burden on me. I have to use all my time caring for them, or I have to spend most of my money paying for someone to care for them. Since they are a burden on me, maybe I will abort their life now.” Dr. R. A. Gallop, demographer and head of the Food Science Department at the University of Manitoba, gave this sober warning: “Once you permit the killing of an unborn child, there will be no stopping. There will be no age limit. You are setting off a chain reaction that will eventually make you the victim. Your children will kill you because you permitted the killing of their brothers and sisters. Your children will kill you for your homes and estates. If a doctor will take money for killing an innocent in the womb, he will kill you with a needle when paid by your children. This is the terrible nightmare you are creating for the future. Many of those who are pro-abortion have been ex-tremely inconsistent. They contradict themselves in their argu-ing for abortion on demand and at the same time arguing against capital punishment. Again I had the opportunity to listen to testimony before one of the committees of the Ala-bama State Legislature on the subject of abortion. Represen-tatives of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) were there to argue for abortion on demand. They argued for the right of the woman and the woman alone to decide the fate of her child. When the ACLU representative was question by one of the senators about the ACLU’s stand on capital punish-ment, the ACLU representative stated that they were opposed to capital punishment! The audience laughed at the ridiculous stand the ACLU was taking. They argued that a woman has the right to kill an innocent child by abortion but that the gov-ernment does not have the right to kill a criminal that has com-mitted murder! When the Supreme Court ruled that the constitution does not prevent states from executing murderers who are as young as 16, the ACLU was angered. On e of their represen-tatives, Henry Schwarzchild, said: “It is quite appalling that the Supreme Court would read the Constitution…as not banning the execution of children. To let the society hang children is medieval and barbaric.” If the ACLU is right, if it is barbaric to execute 16 year old kids who have killed someone, how much worse is it to kill innocent unborn children? However, the ACLU is not the only group that is incon-sistent in their understanding on the matter of abortion. The United Supreme Court ruled in the Roe versus Wade decision that unborn humans have no constitutional, no legal rights. They are not protected by the laws of the United States. Yet the Court also ruled in favor of advancing the rights of un-hatched bald eagles! The Court ruled that those guilty of de-stroying the egg of the American bald eagle would face the penalty of a $5,000 fine and/or a jail sentence.
