How to install the printer drivers, printer client and printers for macOS Catalina

1. Install the printer drivers

1. Go to https://www.support.xerox.com/ and type in 7855 in the searchbar.

2. Select Built-in controller and click to download the file.

3. Install the downloaded file

4. Click Continue

5. Click Continue

6. Click Agree

7. Click Install

8. Enter your Mac (local admin) password and select Install Software

9. Once the installation is complete, click Continue

2. Install the PCClient

1. Go to Connect to Server and enter srvwinppc001.wf.uct.ac.za into the server field

2. Enter your UCT Credentials

3. From the list, select PCClient

4. Copy the Mac Folder to the root of the macOS drive (not to the desktop as this may give you an error when opening the installer)

5. Open the folder on your drive, right click on the icon marked client-local-install and select Open

6. Click Yes

7. Enter your UCT credentials and select Remember my Identity

8. Open Applications and you should now see PCClient

9. Go to System Preferences and select Users & Groups

10. Unlock by clicking the lock icon

11. Click Login Items

12. Click the + symbol at the bottom

13. Select PCClient and click Add

14. Click the padlock to lock

3. Install the printers

1. Go to Printers & Scanners

2. Click on the + symbol

• You will see the two uct_mobile _follow printers o uct_mobile_follow is colour o uct_mobile_follow_bw is monochrome

• When you select them, they will install automatically

3. As an option, you can also install the UCT_XRX_MAC printer by clicking the + symbol again.

4. On the top ribbon, select IP

5. In the Address field, type: Srvwinppc003.wf.uct.ac.za

6. In the Queue field, type: UCT_XRX_MAC

• NB: this is case sensitive

7. In the Name field, type UCT_XRX_MAC_03

8. In the Use dropdown, change Generic Postscript Printer to Software

9. On the Printer Software popup box, type 7855 in the Filter field

10. Click OK and then click Add

11. The printer will now appear in your list of printers.

12. You can repeat the above for printer server 002, using the following details:

• Address field: Srvwinppc002.wf.uct.ac.za • Queue field: UCT_XRX_MAC (case sensitive) • Name field: UCT_XRX_MAC
