Step 1: Download the Google Chrome browser installer.

• Go to https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/• Click the Download Chrome button.

Step 2: Accept the Google Chrome Terms of Service

• The MSD tech support team recommends unchecking the "Set Google Chrome as mydefault browser" box so Internet Explorer will remain the default browser on districtcomputers.

• It is OK to check the "Help make Google Chrome better..." box to send crash reports toGoogle.

• Click the Accept and Install button to continue.

Step 3: Confirm that you want to run the Google Installer

• If you receive an Application Run - Security Warning, click the "Run" button to confirm youwant to run the Google Chrome installer.

Step 4: Confirm again that you want to run the Google Chromeinstaller

• Click the Yes button to confirm to Windows 7 that you want to run the Google Chromeinstaller.

Step 5: Continue with Google Chrome setup

• The next screen you will see is asking you to sign in with your Google account. The MSDtech support team recommends you skip this step by selecting the "No thanks" link.

• Why skip this step? MSD doesn't have district-provided Google accounts. If you sign inwith a personal Google account, you are opening up your private, personal informationstored in that Google account to accidental disclosure or even potential required disclosureunder an FOIA request.

• If you need to access items in your personal Google account, go directly to the Googleservice's web page and log in and out on the service's web page.

Step 6: Set the Google Chrome default start page to the district webpage

• This step is important because most addresses for district-required web sites are in theFaculty/Staff menu on the district website.

• The addresses on the Faculty/Staff menu are kept up-to-date and are known to work; thisis the recommended starting point for district-required web sites.

• If you don't want to set the default start page, you can skip this step and just type thedistrict web address http://www.msd3.org each time.

• Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" button. It is a square buttonwith three lines in it located at the top, right corner of the Google Chromebrowser.

• Click the Settings option.

• Look for the "On Startup" section.• The default is "Open the New Tab page."

• Change the "On startup" option to the last one "Open a specific page or set ofpages."

• Then click the "Set pages" link.

• On the "Add a new page" line, type http://www.msd3.org/ and then click theOK button.

• The next time you start the Google Chrome browser, you should see the MSDweb page automatically.

Step 7: Tell Google Chome to not ask again to be your default webbrowser

• Google Chrome is going to bug you each time you start it to be set as your default webbrowser.

• At this time, the MSD tech support team recommends against setting Google Chrome asyour default web browser on district computers.

• Click the "Don't ask again" button.• The MSD tech support team will be evaluating full, managed support for Google Chrome

and is not ready to support it as the default web browser on district computers at this time.
