Heathrow Airspace and Future Operations Consultation

8 January 2019 – 4 March 2019We are redesigning Heathrow’s future airspace, which will mean new flightpaths over new areas. Please get involved and have your say.

You are receiving this leaflet because changes to Heathrow’s flight paths and how we operate our runways in future may affect you and we want you to have your say.

This is your chance to help us shape our proposals and influence changes which are likely to be in place for many years to come.

Your feedback is very important and will help us shape how we operate our runways and flight paths for years to come. The deadline for responding to our consultation is 11.55pm on 4 March 2019. You can provide us with your comments in several ways:

How to respond to this consultation

Visit us at one of our consultation events

We are holding consultation events at the venues listed in this leaflet. Members of the Heathrow team will be available to answer your questions and help you respond to the consultation. You can also pick up copies of the consultation documents at these events.

Why have I received this leaflet?

We are seeking your views on the following:

Future operations

Operating a three-runway airport will be different to how we operate our two-runway airport today. If a third runway at Heathrow is approved, we have to set out how our runways will operate in the future. There are four topics we would like your feedback on:

Airspace

We need to design new flight paths for arriving and departing planes for our expanded airport.

NoiseTell us what you think about our approach to managing noise at an expanded Heathrow.

Directional preference The direction of the wind affects how planes arrive and depart at the airport. We are presenting options for how this will work in the future and want to hear your views.

Night flightsTell us how you think we should operate the proposed scheduled ban on night flights at an expanded Heathrow.

Runway alternationLet us know your views about our proposals for ensuring local communities have breaks from aircraft noise by switching the use of our runways.

We are also making changes to the way some planes arrive into Heathrow using our existing runways.

We would like to know if there is anything you think we should take into account in your area when designing new flight paths.

What is airspace? Airspace is the

network of flight paths in the sky that aircraft

follow when flying into, and out of, the

UK’s airports.
