How to Change the View

Normal View

The “Normal” view has the slide in the middle of the screen with slide panes on the left of the page. The slide panes can make the presentation easier to navigate. (pictured below)

Slide Show View

In the “Slide Show” view, the slide takes up the entire screen. Click the mouse once to view the next slide. When presenting to a client or prospective client, using this view is recommended. (Pictured below)

If the row of slides is not present:

o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on View. o In the drop down menu, click on Normal (Restore Panes). (pictured below)

To view in Slide Show format:

o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on View. o In the drop down menu, click on Slide Show. (pictured below)

How to Edit a Slide

o Text boxes will appear in the title at the top of the page and in the body of the slide that says, “Click to add text.”

o Click on the box and add your own title and text in the body of the slide.

To Add Text in a New SlideTo Add a Text Box

o From the file menu at the top of the page, click on Insert. o In the drop-down menu, click on Text Box (pictured right).o The mouse will change from an arrow to a different symbol, similar to a + with a longer vertical line.o Draw the size and shape you would like by clicking and dragging to the desired size. (see “Notes” section at end of this document for how to click and drag)

To Edit Text in an Existing Slide

o Click on the text. o A blinking cursor will appear.o Edit text by deleting or adding text.

To Delete a Text Box

o Click on the border of the box to highlight it (shown right). o Press backspace or delete on the keyboard.

o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Insert.

o In the drop-down menu under “Insert,” click on New Slide.

o A new slide will be added after the slide you are currently viewing.

How to Add a Slide

Add slides containing information on you, your business, local

market trends, comparable

properties in a CMA.

How to Delete a Slide

o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Edit.

o Click on Delete Slide in the drop-down menu.

o Make sure you are viewing the slide that you want to delete.

Delete slides that are not important for

your purposes.

For example, if GDP is not something you want to discuss, you

can delete it.

To Add a Chart or Graph

o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Insert. o In the drop-down menu, click on Chart... .o A graph and a window titled “Presentation - Datasheet” with default data will appear (pictured right)

• Data may be changed, added, or deleted to the “Datasheet” and the graph will automatically reflect the changes.

o East/West/North: • You can: - add “South” as a category - change categories to represent anything ex: House 1, House 2, House 3o 1st Qtr, 2nd Qtr, 3rd Qtr, 4th Qtr You can change to represent months, days, etc.o Change the values and the height of the graph will change instantly

How to Edit a Slide (Cont)

To Change the Size of the Text Box

o Click on the text box.o 8 round circles should appear on: • each corner • midway on each of the sideso Click and drag on the circles to make the text box the desired size.

To Move an Object

o An object is a text box, picture, or graphic.o Select the object by clicking on it.o Click and drag the object to the desired location.

To Add a Picture

o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Insert. o In the drop-down menu, click on Add Picture.o Click on From File if the picture you would like to add is saved on your computer.o Change the size of the picture the same way a text box is changed. • Tip: Hold the Shift key down as you change the picture to keep the proportions the same. Otherwise, the picture can stretch out and look distorted.

Questions and Answers

Question: I saw some great research for sellers in last month’s This Month in Real Estate. Can I combine that slide with this month’s presentation?

Answer: Absolutely. Here are step-by-step instructions how to copy the whole slide:

1. Open both files.2. Click once on the slide you would like to copy in the slide pane.3. Copy the slide. o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Edit. o In the drop down menu, click on Copy.4. In the presentation you would like to add the slide to, click once in the slide pane where you would like it to be inserted. o Remember that when you add a new slide, it is inserted after the current slide.5. Paste the content into the slide. o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Edit. o In the drop down menu, click on Paste.

Question: That’s great but I don’t want to copy the whole slide, I only want to copy part of it. How can I do that?

Answer: Here are step-by-step instructions how:

1. Open both files.2. Select everything on the slide that you are interested in having added to the current presentation. o If you would like to copy more than one object at the same time • Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard • Click once on each of the objects to select • Release the Shift key3. Copy everything that is selected. o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Edit. o In the drop down menu, click on Copy.4. Add a new blank slide to the current month’s presentation where you would like the research to be added. o Remember that when you add a new slide, it is inserted after the current slide.5. Delete the text boxes that are automatically added with the new slide.6. Paste the content into the slide. o From the file menu at the top of the screen, click on Edit. o In the drop down menu, click on Paste.7. If necessary, the content can be moved by selecting the text box or picture then clicking and dragging it to the desired location.

To click and drag, do the following: o Click and hold down the left mouse button, do not release yet. o Move the mouse cursor to the desired location. o Now, release the left mouse button.
