How to access electronic books

Electronic books are provided at the moment by three different providers – StatRef, Ebsco

DOSS and Elsevier Publishers.

From the library catalogue

All of the electronic books that we have in our collection are accessible from the library

catalogue (but StatREf and Ebsco DOSS books can also be accessed directly from their

database location).

E-books from Elsevier

These books are recognisable by the ebook icon.

Click on the book title to get access to the link.

Click on link Use log in details as provided

You can save each pdf to your computer by right clicking on pdf symbol and Saving As ..... or

you can open up and read immediately

To access books from the Ebsco DOSS database :

Books that are available via the Ebsco DOSS database can be found when searching the

catalogue

Click on link and you will be directed to book within DOSS database

Or you can go directly to Ebsco DOSS database and click on the icon

Search for the book under Publications tab

For example : Esthetics in dentistry – click on E

Click on the title

Then click on date

For some books there may be more than one version – so click on the publication date

Then click on the pdf link for full chapter

To access books from the StatRef database

Books that are available via the StatRef database can be found when searching the catalogue

or directly from the Library home page via the StatRef icon.

If you find an ebook in the catalogue. Click on the title to see the full record.

If it is in the StatRef database, click on the main web address and you will be directed to the

e-book on StatRef.

Accept the Terms and Conditions

This will take you to the contents of the ebook. Use the links to navigate around the book You may print or print to adobe pdf Remember to log out when finished

Or you can go directly to the StatRef e-book database by clicking on the icon

Once on the StatRef site - Click on the book cover that you want to read

eg. Clinical periodontology and implant dentistry

OR enter a search term

HINT

All our e-books are listed in alphabetical order by title under this icon

Searching for the term Ossseointegration retrieves relevant chapters in

several different books. Clicking on the links will take you to those

chapters.
