• Reports are always changing.Keep informed by reading our newsletter.
• Most reports have a Report Data Interpretation Guide (DIG). Use them! They help you understand the report.

• Districts determine who gets and what level of access they receive. Some districts choose not to give teachers access. Contact your SAM for info.
• Permissions in SD-STARS determine what data you see. Teachers will usually see student-level data for their classroom and school level data in aggregate.

Where?
Each district has a STARS Account Managerwho manages accounts for the district. This person can help with password/log-in help issues.

Most reports in SD-STARS provide current student and their historical results. The exception are
“feedback” reports that look at the students you had in the selected year.

were below standard on that claim.

Other Observations• The teacher’s kids appear to always be lowest in
Concepts and Procedures the last 3 years.• Concepts and Procedures also have the highest %
of above standard results. The kids that are getting it, are getting it well. The kids who aren’t getting it…
• When Problem Solving goes down, Communicating Reasoning goes up.

• What targets are in Concepts and Procedures? Use the SBAC Blueprint. http://doe.sd.gov/Assessment/SMARTERbalanced.aspx
• How did my students do on the targets? This data would be found outside of SD-STARS in the AIR/Smarter Balanced portal.
Not everything is in SD-STARS. Sometimesyou may need to go to other systems to find more detailed information.
