BODY: Rangoon township zone court in Rangoon Division has accepted today [5thOctoberl the cases of absconding against Thanmani Bo Khin Maung, U Sein Mya, ZaliMaw, Maung Aung, Myint Thein alias Khin Thein of the Alliance for DemocraticSolidarity, Union of Burma, IADSB] and Tun Aung Kyaw and Moe Thee Zun, chairmanand member respectively of the All Burma Students' Democratic Front, [ABSDF] at theborder and across the border, under Section 5-AlJ of the 1950 Emergency Measures Act,Section l7-2 of the Unlawful Associations Act and Section 512 of the CriminalProcedures Code.

The case is that on 25th October 1988, Thanmani Bo Khin Maung arrived in Bangkok,Thailand, and on 19th January 1989 formed the ADSB and became its chairman. U SeinMysa left for the border on 18th January 1989 and joined ADSB chairman Bo KhinMaung.

Zali}j4aw left on 6th June 1981 with a Burmese passport to work in Thailand andbecame vice-chairman of the ADSB. Maung Aung went abroad on 11th April 1969 with aBurmese passport and, instead of returning to Burma, married an American Jew. He isnow secretary of the ADSB.

Myint Thein alias Pyay Thein is a member of the ADSB and is an officer in charge ofdemolition training being conducted at the Japan Yedwin camp near Three Pagoda Passby foreign instructors. Myint Thein alias Pyay Thein is sending saboteurs to Rangoon andMandalay.

Tun Aung Kyaw went underground near the Thai border at the end of September 1988,formed the ABSDF, and became its chairman with the support of the KNU [KarenNational Unionl. He formed student battalions to take up armed struggle against thegovernment and tried to get support from foreign countries.

Moe Thee Zun, while serving as the chairman of the Democratic Party for NewSociety, went underground near the Thai border in late April 1989 and joined the

ABSDF. Photographic evidence and documents which prove that he has been sending

back to the country propaganda journals, which offend and criticise the state government,

have been found and investigated.

The People's Police Force special branch as prosecutor has opened cases against them

as absconders under Section 5-AlI of the 1950 Emergency Measures Act, Section 512 of

the Criminal Procedures Code, Section t7-2 of the Unlawful Associations Act and Section

4-5-2 of the Criminal Procedures Code.
