The building blocks of your future health all depend on what you choose to eat and do in middle school, since everyone is almost 12 or 13 this is the crucial age to pay attention about your weight. In the graph illustrated, it shows the average weight of an American child in ages 11-13 in 2008 . The problem with these numbers is that they are false in today's pretenses because kids now are not having the normal weight, such as 11 year olds average weight in 2008 which was 77 pounds , but now the average weight is at least 86 pounds ( estimated).

FOOD INDUSTRY ADVERTISEMENT The food industry is actually the main leading cause of obesity in the United States and the world. The problem is that the companies that are producing fat in peoples bodies are producing billions of dollars and making it rain all over the place. McDonald is a perfect example. it has opened their establishments even in the Aswan river in Egypt. Some establishments have sued documentary directors for revealing their secrets to the nicotine of food. The problem is even if those secrets are exposed, people do not even pay attention to them. Now McDonalds is a 32.8 billion dollar industry, but with this junk food intake it could be a 60 billion dollar business.

Advertisement is what gets the consumer into going into the jail of obesity and fat. The way the advertisement grabs the attention of the consumer is that they do a very obnoxious statement, such as “ it will make your day”. The problem is about these cheesy sayings is that they grab the consumer and leave him to rot while the employers feeding them with constant trash are earning minimum wage. So we need to stop falling for these false announcements and start eating healthier.

When Georgia was 11 she weighted a staggering 300 pounds ( talk about a well balanced diet). When Georgia first went to the doctor she did not receive a comforting message, instead she got the message that if she does not lose weight she dies , but she did not listen at all. When she explained to People Magazine why she was eating 2 sandwiches in one sitting , she stated that it was depression from her father’s death, but the doctors did not think this was an excuse. In 2007 Georgia was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. When Georgia heard the news she decided to go to an obesity camp in Brevard, NC where she decided her habits were not doing good for her health. When she got back she showed no progress at all because she gained back all of the weight that she lost. Now Georgia Davis is trying to get help from Prince Charles Hospital in order to gain control of her life.

School is the foundation of a child's life because it builds the building blocks of the child's actions, academic standing ,social behavior, and mostly health habits. Now from my connections from going to a private French school in Casablanca the food was healthy, such as we never had any ketchup, mustard etc. Also we never had a cafeteria, but when I went to 2nd grade in another school we had a cafeteria and it was still the same healthy options, but on a different grade level. When I came here and had my first school lunch ( teriyaki chicken), I stayed in the restroom for 10 minutes. That experience got me wondering what they put in the food, so I stopped having school lunch , but then I started eating school lunch again. The conclusion is that schools need to step up their game and make the food healthier or else we are going to run out of room since everyone is so fat.

Most people think that being healthy is going on a diet, but that is not entirely true because there are other things, such as exercise and medicine. Getting healthy is different for people that are already habited by junk food because it is already their life, but you can break that habit if you limit going out to eat and start working out and running tiny laps around the neighborhood. As I said medicine can also help you lose weight ,but you need to consult a trusted physician in order to get advice on what medicine to take. Also fellow friends and family can help you adjust to your health situation and also help you psychologically. I hope this information can lead you to living a healthier life style.

“ This isn’t just a policy issue for me. This is a passion. I am determined to work with folks across this country to change the way a generation of kids thinks about food and nutrition” Michelle Obama.

As a result, childhood obesity is a huge problem for our future generation and there is no magic stick to resolve the problem, so we need to come together and make a difference.
