We begin by assessingexperience, attitude andexpectations of staff memberstoward cutting edge

Community Cohort Creation...
Immedia believes that fostering thedevelopment of learning communities is
essential to sustainable and impactfultechnology integration and as such it is thefocal point of our work. Furthermore, our experience has shown that building successfulcommunities is dependent on a number of considerations, each of which figure
prominently in to our proposals:
1. Communication: developing a platform for contact that is easy to use andconnect to, is critical for networking.Immedia’s program teaches participants
how to integrate different communication platforms and Web 2.0 tools, some of
which they are already using (facebook,ning, Google documents) to buildsustainable learning communities.
2. Moderating: fostering communication, providing guidance, and encouragingmember interaction strengthens bonds
between members. Immedia’s moderatorsand coaches have experience in suchsettings and are expert at helping
participants overcome roadblocks totechnology-related competencies.
3. Diversity: the strongest networks arecomposed of diverse members whoseunique knowledge strengthens the power of the group. Diversity is a keyconsideration in the cohort constructdiscussed in our Overview section.
4. Relevance: community members musthave something to gain by participating inthe community and hence the activities of the community must be relevant to keepthe membership interested. Like diversity,contextual relevance also figures
prominently into the cohort design.

Immedia creates for each cohort community,an Interactive Forum. These forums are web-
based, secure portals within which membersand relevant permitted guests interact witheach other in a variety of forms, including:

Searchable archives of past lessons
Member profile information
News and information regardingmeeting date and times
