My Bio
My left brain? M.D.
FAAFP Hospital/ICU
M.P.H B.S. USMC Officer: flying
My right brain? Psy.D. ABHM RscP Acupuncture Hypnosis- Erickson Homeopathic Professional
entertainer/musician
My Calling: August 12, 1984
Life evaluation 2x/year Successful musician/entertainer Where am I going next? How will I know what to do next? “The Process”
My Calling: what I discovered Holistic family physician A surprise to me I didn’t know:
Any doctors personally Anything about medical education There was no such thing as a holistic family physician at that time
Saying yes to being called Didn’t take “no” for an answer The power of answering the Call: Luke 3:5 (Isaiah 40)
Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
Healing
What do I mean by healing? The revelation, the uncovering, the discovering of
the perfection that underlies everything- and that includes me; that All is Well
How will I know if I am healed? Remember when you were a child; remember the
last time you felt that NOTHING could limit your joy Remember the feeling of being whole; being healed Write that down; right now
Curing vs Healing
They are not the same thing Definition/origin:
Curing (to care/worry): To effect a recovery from (a disease)
Healing (whole): To restore to health or soundness
Curing
Curing relief or recovery from a disease something that corrects a harmful or troublesome
situation to restore to health, soundness, or normality to bring about recovery to free from something objectionable or harmful
Most often, my patients tell me that they no longer experience signs and symptoms of a dis-ease.
Curing vs Healing
Most patients and clients come to me to be cured. To be fixed. But curing is always temporary. The latest pill The best herb or supplement The fastest/surest way to get rid of what is making them feel
sick
But, there is nothing wrong with curing It’s not curing OR healing
Curing can be a road to building faith; to experience healing
Curing vs Healing
But remember, a cure is always temporary There is no perfect pill to heal you There is no best herb or supplement to heal you There is no fastest/surest way to become healed
Endlessly seeking only natural or only medical or only spiritual methods/modalities of curing your ills will only lead to frustration
But: Accepting where you; what you really believe in Seeking a holistic approach to the revelation of healing in your life
can lead to what you experienced as a child: joy
Health and Healing
What do they mean? If healing is the revelation of the perfect state
of All is Well Then your health is the manifestation of this
perfection in all aspects of your life: Body Mind Spirit Relationship
Holistic physician
What does that mean? Doctor: from Latin: doctor
"religious teacher, adviser, scholar,"
Physician: Classical Greek noun phusis and derived adjective phusikos meant "nature" and "natural“ . From this came the Late Latin physicus, which meant a doctor of medicine
Holistic: 1926, coined, along with holism, by Gen. J.C. Smuts (1870-1950), from Gk. holos "whole“: the theory that nature consists of wholes. And that it is the tendency of nature to produce “wholes”- increasingly more functional systems.
Holistic systems
René Descartes (1596-1650)Cartesian dualism: body & mind are separate
Here, we accept no separation of body, mind, & spirit
We use these aspects to remind us that we must address all these aspects if we are going to see our wholeness.
Remember Gen. J.C. Smuts:
it is the tendency of nature to produce “wholes”- increasingly more functional systems.
Three Legged Stool

The plan for each class
Three Legged Stool of Healing Mind Body Spirit
Each class we will: Feed and strengthen the mind so that we may understand Engage in active practice to feel the change in our bodies Deepen our practice and commitment to knowing that All is
Well Commit to sharing this healing revelation with others

Three Legged Stool
Body, Mind, and Spirit To experience optimal health and
balance in our lives: Each leg of the stool must be equal The legs must be just long enough
Too short- we are living like a child Too long- our heads are in the clouds Just right- our feet are on the ground and
we are fully supported as mature, healthy adults
BodyMind
Spirit
Three Legged Stool
Draw the legs of your stool right now: Body: how long is this leg? Mind: how long is this leg? Spirit: how long is this leg? Are they equal? Are your feet on the
ground? Is your head in the clouds?

The Heart and the Brain
There are direct connections between the heart and the brain
Neurocardiology
This is the study and practice of how our hearts and our nervous systems interact
The “history” of our nervous systems: The cells that will become every part of our nervous system
begin in a single “neural plate” These cells are “divided up” and move to what will become:
Our brain The nerve cells of our heart The autonomic nervous system The “brain” in our bowels The cortex of our adrenal glands
Neurocardiology
Neurocardiology
Many “brains” Two of the most
important: Cerebrum Heart nervous system
Heart Wisdom 10 times as much
information goes from the heart to the brain than from the brain to the heart
Neurocardiology
The “history” of our heart’s nervous system: 3 weeks: primitive heart muscle cells begin to
beat on their own- and rapidly get in sync w/ the mother’s heart
They become coherent- individually, and with each other

Recall Your Three Legged Stool
Which leg needed the most attention?
Were they all too long? Too short? This is an opportunity to
use your heart wisdom to find new answers
Use your heart to tell you what to do next
Practice
Heart focus Heart breathing Heart feeling Now ask yourself: what
can I do to bring my “stool” into balance? What would be the thing I could do right now to experience the joy of total health in body, mind, and spirit?

How we become “sick”
Cosmologic Development to Personal Development Universal consciousness: the One Mind
Preconsciousness: the Individual Mind Birth (Mind into material) Infancy
Separation and development of “self”: learning the rules; The Four Agreements
The first steps to separation Separation=sickness

How I become “sick”: telling my stories
When I tell my stories, I separate from this moment When I separate from this
moment, I suffer This is true for my stories
whether I am the hero, the villain, or the victor
My stories about the past and the future are never accurate
I can only truly know this moment
If you would stop your suffering, STOP TELLING YOUR STORIES

How we “become healed”
A “radical” view There is nothing that needs to be healed; only
the truth revealed Our beliefs about our lives produce the experience
of our lives You know many examples of this
The “radical” thing about this is that I mean the statement literally: we are already living in a perfect universe that is always in perfect order. And that includes me.
All is well
How we “become healed”
So why do I feel so bad? Why do I get sick and eventually die? Our beliefs are powerful. Our minds have
the ability to produce profound: Mental experiences Emotional experiences Physical changes and “sickness”; and
“wellness” In fact:
How we “become healed”
My mind creates my life
How we “become healed”
Any time I move away from the perfect, dynamic balance of the “All is Well” it creates a force A vector
Our beliefs about our lives produce the experience of our lives
You know many examples of this This force is in proportion and direction to how I have
strayed from the Truth
There is a powerful positive force unerringly pulling me back to the Truth…..
Three PrinciplesAll is well My mind creates my lifeThere is a powerful positive
force unerringly pulling me back to the Truth…..
That….
The First Principle
All is well
All is well
The universe is always in perfect order; if it were not it would fly apart. It would be logically impossible
God/Spirit/Allah always sees the perfection in all situations; God cannot see imperfection where none exists
It is WE who don’t see the perfection
Evidence for “All is well….”
Why I know that all is well I have had direct spiritual and transcendental
experiences that have told me that this is so Science
The universe; all we know; is one continuous whole
Physics
Evidence for “All is well….”
Physics Newton Quantum mechanics Physical cosmology:
“Big Bang”; expanding, accelerating Universe: Another theory:
Universe Reborn Endlessly in New Model of the Cosmos Recently gathered data from exploding, dying stars called supernovae have revealed that the universe is not only expanding, as predicted, but that its rate of expansion is accelerating. The only force that could explain such cosmic acceleration is a source of energy, not visible or yet identified by scientists, that permeates the entire universe. Physicists have dubbed the mysterious force "dark energy."
Evidence for “All is well….”
Physics What we see; what we don’t see…. What we know; what we don’t know…. The manifest Universe:
Evidence for “All is well….”
Dark matter: >70% of manifest Universe
about which we know next to nothing.
Evidence for “All is well….” There is no discontinuity Most of what there is in our universe…we don’t
see…we don’t know What we DO see/know is only a small part of the
POSSIBLE. The possible of what we might see and know.
There is physical evidence that what we see/know…the very particles and waves… come in and out of existence due to our intention to see and know about them. To “measure” them.

What can I do to reveal healing in my life?
First: I accept where I am. I may wish to be somewhere else I may have a story about the past or a dream about the
future, but I AM RIGHT HERE. Nothing more and nothing less.
Second: I recognize something’s calling me Jaimi Luna song Be still and know that I am the Lord
Third: Surrender and experience the “All is well” Meditation Heartmath® Running Dancing Playing music Drawing Healing modalities by “healers”
Revealing healing in my life? First: I accept where I am.
Judgment: I may wish to be somewhere else. Or, I may like where I am. Or, I may be
actively indifferent to where I am right now. I may have a story about the past or a dream about the future, but I AM
RIGHT HERE. RIGHT NOW. Nothing more… and nothing less. Exercise: (5 minute worksheet)
Centering/HM Where I am right now:
Mind Body Spirit
Experience: My mind is ______ right now. Breathe My body is ______ right now. Breathe My Spirit is ______ right now. Breathe Can I begin to experience each of these things…without judgment? Just
observing. Just witnessing them. I may not like them or I may like them. But either way, I am where I am right now. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
Can I begin to just experience each of these aspects of my life…without judgment? Without fear? Accepting where I am right now. Even loving exactly where I am right now.
Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
Revealing healing in my life? Second: I begin to recognize something is calling me
Becoming “deaf”: becoming “numb” I have heard “something” calling me before.
When was the first time? As a child? When did I become “deaf”? Who told me I couldn’t.
Who told me I wouldn’t? When did I start believing that I wouldn’t and couldn’t? I shouldn’t.
When was the most recent time you heard the call, felt the call- to do something “crazy”; to do something “important”- important to you? Didn’t it feel really good? Feel that right now if you can.
Exercise:
Finding your calling: the process: head
Three questions: What am I being called
to do with the rest of my life?
What do I really want to do in the next three years?
If I only have 6 months to live what am I being called to do right now?

Revealing healing in my life Third: I Surrender and experience that “All is well”: The power of faith
the Wright Brothers saw themselves enjoying flying with great facility. It is said that one of the brothers would tell the other, when their varied experiences did not turn out as they expected: “It’s all right, Brother, I can see myself riding in that machine, and it travels easily and steadily.”
Revealing healing in my life Third: I Surrender and experience that “All is well”: The power of faith
"For some years I have been afflicted with the belief that flight is possible to man." "It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill.“
Wilbur Wright
Revealing healing in my life? Third: I Surrender and experience that “All is well”
When did I lose faith? When did I quit believing in Santa Claus? When did I forget how to fly?
Story about 4 y/o, 6 y/o in my office When was the most recent time you heard the call, felt the call- to do something
“crazy”; to do something “important”- important to you? Didn’t it feel really good? Feel that right now if you can.
Exercise: (5 minute worksheet) Centering/HM Write down every “crazy thing” you want to do. Have wanted to do. No buts. No
conditions. I have a magic wand and I am holding it over your heart right now. Experience:
My mind is ______ right now. Breathe My body is ______ right now. Breathe My Spirit is ______ right now. Breathe Can I begin to experience each of these things…without judgment? Just observing.
Just witnessing them. I may not like them or I may like them. But either way, I am where I am right now. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
Can I begin to just experience each of these aspects of my life…without judgment? Without fear? Accepting where I am right now. Even loving exactly where I am right now.
