2. Examplesof AsexualReproduction:

a. Binary Fission="division in half", most common

form of reproduction in prokaryotes some singlecelled eukaryotes. After replicating its genetic material, the cell divides into two nearly equal sized daughter cells.

Ex. Amoeba, Paramecium, bacteria

b. Budding= "lil' buddy" a new organism grows on original. Detaches when grown

Ex. Plants, Fungi, Yeast, Hydra, Sponges, some worms

c. Spore Formation(Sporulation)= produce andrelease spores which havegenetic material inside

Ex. Yeast, bacteria, mold, mushrooms, mosses, ferns, certain protozoa

d. Regeneration= regrowa lost part

Ex. Hydra, Planaria, starfish, earthworm, newts/geckos,(*Human Liver)

e. Vegetative Propagation: in plants Asexual plant parts (leaves, roots, stems)

1) Natural bulbs, corms, rhizomes, runners, tubers

Examples:

Onion, Garlic, Lily, Tulip,Amaryllis
