How do I use the idea case study form?

TURNING IDEAS INTO ACTION SITUATIONAL TRAINING DOCUMENTS

We developed this case study template for use by supervisors to record ideas their team produced and implemented. The template’s purpose is to provide recognition to the individual(s) who generated the idea, and to assist others in motivating their team to do the same. Using the template helps educate and inspire new ideas from employees by demonstrating what other teams have achieved. We added icons that may be copied and pasted from the KEY TO ICONS sheet to help illustrate the idea and beneficiary.

Templates may be put on display in break room bulletin boards, in an employee’s file, and shortly posted on the CCM web site.

Idea Activators are short training or education modules that teach people new techniques or give them perspectives on their work that will trigger more ideas. Depending on the nature of the information to be imparted, these modules can be anything from a ten minute talk to a formal classroom training session.EX Reducing waste is a corporate goal, asking employees for their green ideas would result in limited ideas. So, to increase people’s ability to spot green improvement opportunities conduct training seminars or educational programs to heighten their awareness and knowledge on the subject. It serves as a stimulus to generating new ideas

EX Customers call the wrong phone number and get mad and confused, reason – the way the ad is designed the phone number is confusing. There might be more issues at hand than just the ad phone number mix up.

OFI – Opportunities For Improvement, Ideas, ProblemsIt is important that people offer up problems as well as ideas. They may not have any idea how to solve it, but a team member may. Problems do not need to be viewed as negative but instead as opportunities. Because every idea begins with a problem, teams must learn to see out and embrace problems instead of avoiding them. Opening up the process to problems will significantly increase both the quality and quantity of the team’s ideas.

The Idea Generation Ticket is for “Color Stretch Wrap for Cut Jobs” submitted by Kareem Asseem, a Production Employee in Smithfi eld. His supervisor Rick Ruble was a supportive role for the Idea Genera-tion project. The issue started with cut job units getting mixed in with production units and this caused a major inventory and production issue. The new process makes iden-tifi cation of units mistake proof and eliminates issues with both

production and shipping. This idea was very benefi cial and was imple-mented very quickly. Great job to the team.
