Introduction

The number zero was created in India. The new arabic number system spread around the world as people thought it was easier to use and less complicated. People were afraid to use the new system because everybody was used to the roman number system and it was what they would always use. They were afraid to use it because they could do their calculations wrong and might be difficult to learn.

Different ways to write the number zero.

Here is an example of two number systems and how complicated one is from the other.

Historical Facts

• The Hindu-Arabic system first started in India• A man called Fibonacci (Leonardo Pisano) spread the

number zero to Europe.• The Europeans were scared to use the new number

system because they were used to the Roman Numerals.

• Europeans were scared to do their calculations with the new number system because they might do it all wrong or they might not know how to use it properly.

Roman Numerals

Before the Europeans would use roman numerals as their custom number system. Hundreds of years ago it would slowly spread to other countries and be used by many people. This made the new number system very hard to spread though Europe and for people to learn.

The In t roduct ion Of Zero In Europe

• The man who introduced zero to Europe is called Leonardo Pisano also know as Fibonacci. The Europeans were afraid to use the new number system because all Europeans were used to the roman number system. The new number system slowly developed and spread around Europe.

Expans ion Of Math 's

People used the new number system when it spread around places in the world. They thought it was easier to do calculations and to give questions. Teachers prefered it because they could ask questions a lot easier.
