In the 1950s,60s and 70s black people were
often not shown on TV or in film. They didnotwork on the News or present radio
programmes. The times they were shown on TV they were
often STEREOTYPEDin a negativeway.

played normal roles in soaps such as the
Cosby show.

more successfully
