lectronics has entered Sabaf company,

and it is not surprising. The managing

director of Sabaf, the engineer Pietro Iot-

ti, had anticipated it in the interview re-

leased to ha factory last May: the com-

pany’s industrial plant provides for a

growth “both organic – with relevant de-

velopments in the lines of conventional products, like burn-

ers, taps and hinges – and inorganic, through a takeover pol-

icy of other companies”. Moreover, still on that occasion, he

had added that Sabaf’s interest was oriented to the world of

household appliance components as well as to neighbouring

professional sectors where gas is used; therefore the profes-

sional cooking, components, also electronic, for household

appliances and domestic heating componentry.

Therefore, the takeover, which was officialised last Septem-

ber, of the Turkish company Okida Electronic Sanayi ve Ti-

caret Anonim Sirketi must be interpreted according to this

vision. The operation was implemented through the con-

trolled company Sabaf Beyaz Esya Parçalari (Sabaf Tur-

key) for the 70% share and directly by Sabaf S.p.A. for the

residual 30% share. The takeover was fully funded through

a bank loan with a term of 72 months. Pietro Iotti in person

comments that as follows: “The takeover of Okida repre-

sents the first step towards the fulfilment of the Industrial

Plan presented at the beginning of the current year, in line

with the strategy of widening the product range in house-

hold appliance components and of acquiring competences

in the electronic sector. The pairing between quality and in-

novation acknowledged to Okida and the diffused presence

of Sabaf by all major household appliance manufacturers

Okida is in fact a reference partner for the Turkish market in the

design, production and sale of electronic control boards, timers,

display and power supply units for ovens, kitchen hoods, vacuum

cleaners, refrigerators and freezers. Okida was founded in 1987

by the engineer Gurol Oktug, who will still manage the company

as general manager for at least 12 months. It is a company that,

coherently with the guidelines announced by Iotti while illustrat-

ing the strategy for the Group’s growth, enjoys excellent health.

Okida in fact stands out for a constant growth course, witnessed

by the figures of 2017, year when its sales amounted to USD 14.1

millions, 37% of which directly abroad. The takeover importance

is geographical, too, because Turkey constitutes a fundamental

district for the production of household appliances and also Oki-

da’s sales on the Turkish territory are therefore mostly intended

for products that are then sold on foreign markets. From the point

of view of the corporate organization, Okida currently employs 84

workers, of whom 12 are engaged in the R&D sector.

It will be interesting to monitor what the takeover will imply in

terms of innovation and research: will it favour the birth of new

products and will it guide the technological evolution also in what

is the core of Sabaf Group’s production, that is to say burners?

L’elettronica è entrata in casa Sabaf, e non è una vera sorpresa.

L’amministratore delegato di Sabaf, l’ingegnere Pietro Iotti, lo aveva anticipato nell’intervista rilasciata ad ha factory lo scorso maggio: il piano industriale dell’azienda prevede una crescita “sia organica – con sviluppi importanti sulle linee dei prodotti tradizionali come bruciatori, rubinetti e cerniere – che inorganica, attraverso una politica di acquisizione di altre aziende”. E, sempre in quell’occasione, aveva aggiunto che lo sguardo di Sabaf era rivolto al mondo della componentistica per elettrodomestici ma anche a settori professionali limitrofi in cui si utilizza il gas; quindi la cottura professionale, la componentistica, anche elettronica, per elettrodomestici e la componentistica per il riscaldamento domestico.È quindi da leggere in quest’ottica l’acquisizione, che è stata ufficializzata lo scorso settembre, della società turca Okida Electronic Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi. L’operazione è stata realizzata attraverso la società controllata Sabaf Beyaz Esya Parçalari (Sabaf Turchia) per la quota del 70% e direttamente da Sabaf S.p.A. per la residua quota del 30%. L’acquisizione è stata interamente finanziata attraverso un finanziamento bancario di durata pari a 72 mesi. La commenta proprio Pietro Iotti: “L’acquisizione di Okida rappresenta il primo passo verso la realizzazione del Piano industriale presentato all’inizio di quest’anno, in linea con la strategia di ampliamento della

gamma di prodotti nella componentistica per elettrodomestici e di acquisizione di competenze nel settore elettronico. Il connubio tra qualità e innovazione riconosciute a Okida e la capillare presenza di Sabaf presso tutti i principali produttori di elettrodomestici a livello mondiale ci consente di intravedere forti sinergie commerciali e importanti prospettive di crescita per i prossimi anni”.Con questa acquisizione quindi il portafogli di proposte di Sabaf si amplia in una direzione che sta diventando sempre più strategica per il mondo degli elettrodomestici e del loro controllo, ovvero l’elettronica. Okida infatti è un punto di riferimento per il mercato turco nella progettazione, nella

produzione e nella vendita di schede elettroniche di controllo, timer, unità di visualizzazione e di alimentazione per forni, cappe da cucina, aspirapolvere, frigoriferi e congelatori. Okida è stata fondata nel 1987 dall’ingegnere Gurol Oktug, che rimarrà alla guida dell’azienda come general manager per almeno 12 mesi. Si tratta di un’azienda che, coerentemente con le linee guida che aveva annunciato Iotti nell’illustrare la strategia per la crescita del Gruppo, gode di ottima salute. Okida infatti si caratterizza per un percorso di crescita costante, testimoniata dai numeri del 2017, anno in cui ha realizzato vendite per USD 14,1 milioni, di cui il

37% direttamente all’estero. L’importanza dell’acquisizione è anche geografica, perché la Turchia costituisce un distretto fondamentale per la produzione di elettrodomestici e anche le vendite di Okida sul territorio turco sono poi per la maggioranza destinate a prodotti che vengono poi venduti su mercati esteri. Dal punto di vista dell’organizzazione aziendale Okida ha attualmente 84 dipendenti, di cui 12 sono impegnati nel settore R&D.Sarà interessante seguire quello che l’acquisizione comporterà in termini di innovazione e ricerca: favorirà la nascita di nuovi prodotti e guiderà l’evoluzione tecnologica anche in quello che è il core della produzione del gruppo Sabaf, ovvero i bruciatori? ©
