Member of the National Skeet Shooting

Association (NSSA)

The Hurlburt Clay Target Sports Club is a member of the National Skeet Shooting Association (Club #16543), an 80 year old organization with 20,000 members that determines the rules and regulations regarding this great sport for all ages.

HCTSC is on of the few clubs offering NSSA Certified Instructors. Trained to assess a myriad of problems associated with shotgunning to improve your scores!

A "Patterning Board” located to the right of Field 3 is designed for lead shot no larger than 7 ½, fired at a nominal distance of 17-20 yards. Standing closer will yield poor results and damage the board. The board is coated with white grease so when shot, a clear pattern is displayed. This visual tool can yield valuable information regarding your gun and the type of ammo being used at the time.

Experienced NSSA shooters are encouraged to go online and obtain a referee's test, fill it out and pay the $5 fee. This fee is only required if you are interested in refereeing the larger shoots such as State, Regional and World shoots. Local shoots select referees based upon experience and completion of referee training classes.

SAFETYIt's Everyone's Job!

Safety is rule number one! By both Hurlburt Clay Target Sports Club and NSSA rules, "No shot size larger than 7 ½ is permitted to be fired on skeet fields." Note, #9 shot is smaller guage than #8 shot; #6 shot is larger than #7 ½ shot.

ShooterS are encouraged to check their Shell box before Shooting ShellS.

We appreciate our members adhering to gauge rules to keep our club a safe and fun place to enjoy the sport we love!

The following Shot Chart depicts gauge/bore, shot sizes, weights, pellet counts and number of typical loads per point of chilled lead shot.
