For the first time at PISC, the committee introduces a buyer’s meet and greet session. The general session room will be set up with tables on the perimeter to allow a select number of suppliers the ability to display their products. The tables will need to be manned by a company representative during the “meet and greet” session times. Space is only available to AFIA member companies on a first come, first served basis. An extra registration fee is required. The early-bird registration fee is $100, the regular registration rate is $125 and the on-site rate is $150.

While AFIA is still working with several speakers to confirm their participation, this year’s Nutrition Symposium will include experts from several fields. The first two talks will focus on consumer trust, but each will focus on a different level. Edelman, a public relations firm, will share their trust barometer. From there, the Center for Food Integrity will focus in on the food and agriculture system. Alison Van Eenennaam, of the University of California, Davis, will speak on Potential Impacts of Mandatory Labeling for GMO Foods. She recently received the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology’s (CAST) prestigious 2014 Borlaug CAST Communication Award. Finally, investigative Journalist Nina Teicholz has been invited to share what she learned while researching and writing her New York Times bestseller book, “The Big Fat Surprise: Why Butter, Meat and Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet.”
