We also know too well, that if we don’t get proper skills into the hands of children early, it is very hard to break the bad habits that can form. These two premises apply, not only to the physical skills children need, they also apply to the social emotional skills children need. We talk about these concepts a lot, but we don’t often give children time to literally practice. Peace Coach changes that! It is a Social Emotional Learning curriculum that is simple, effective, affordable, and fun!

Session Description: Just like the title says! This session will be geared towards getting your students active and engaged as soon as they walk through your door with purposeful instant activities and warm ups aligned to SHAPE America Standards and Grade Level Outcomes that require little to no equipment! Activities shared can easily be used at the elementary, middle and high school levels as a way to help increase the amount of time students spend being moderately to vigorously active (MVPA) during your class. Attendees will also walk away with various debriefing techniques to use with their own students following each activity.

Session Description: This session will illustrate how easy it is to gather objective heart rate data related to the amount of moderate to vigorous physical activity students get during physical education classes. Participants will learn a variety of fitness activities including warm ups, physical challenges, games, interval/ circuit training and assessments while wearing Adidas zone heart rate monitors. The focus is to develop and improve all components of physical fitness while promoting good physical activity habits. This process helps to improve teacher effectiveness, motivate students, objectively measure progress and create an engaging environment. Data will be analyzed using individual student and group session reports.
