Hospital Visit to Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre

As part of the curriculum,the students of the Department of Medical Electronics along

with faculty member visited Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Whitefield, Bengaluru on 7th April, 2018 to have an overview of the “Medical Electronics

Equipments”. The visit to the hospital was coordinated and guided by MR.GIRIDHAR, Bio-

Medical Head and his team at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre. The

Hospital Visit was organized by Assistant Prof. MRS.CHITRA H.K., Dept of ML, MVJCE.

The student participants were from 4th and 6th semester of Medical Electronics Department.

About 28 students participated and were benefited from the hospital visit.

The objective of the hospital visit was to motivate the students to develop a strong grip on

the basic model of medical equipment and to convey the importance of developing applications

on the same. The purpose was to help the students prepare for their future career in the industry

through understanding of the medical equipment operation in real time.

The students along with faculty member started from college at 9.00 AM and reached the

hospital by 9:20 AM. The hospital visit started with an Introduction to Vydehi Hospital and

Biomedical Department from Mr. Giridhar, Bio-Medical Head, VIMS. The students were then

split into two batches and headed by two senior Bio-medical engineers of VIMS. They were

taken around different departments of the hospital like CSSD, Radiology, Central Lab, Blood

Bank etc to have real time experience on many bio-medical equipments. Students had an

opportunity to learn about the working of many of the latest equipments like CT Scans, MRI,

ECG, X-Ray, Digital Radiography, Ventilator, Fluoroscopy, CSSD Blood Bank and

Laboratory equipments etc.

The hospital visit was done by 3 PM and all the students accompanied with the faculty

member reached the college by 3.20PM and got dispersed later. The visit was a great learning

experience. We express our thanks to the Management, Principal, Vice Principal and Head of

Department for permitting and arranging the Industrial Visit. Our sincere thanks to the faculty

members for accompanying to the venue and being supportive.
