successful one, with many students gaining Personal Bests and others swimming at this level of competition for the first time. Some of the results from the day are as follows:- Jnr Boys Relay team with Owen Z. took them to a phenomanel 3rd place after sitting at 5th after the third lap, allowing the team to come 3rd overall. Our Jnr Girls Relay team came in 6th overall, which was a magnificent effort for one of the youngest teams we have had. Snr Girls came in with a 4th place in their heat and swam with so much heart. To round the Relays off, the Snr Boys team came a comfortable 3rd place in their heat and by a nail-biting 1 second, kept that placing after the second heat swam. The following students gained places in their Age Final for 50m Freestyle:- 8yrs Girls—Abby, 8yrs Boys—Lucas & Eita; 10yrs Girls—Angelina (2nd place); 10yrs Boys—Owen (1st place); 11yrs Girls—Keisha & Chloe; 11yrs Boys—Ian (2nd place). We had many exceptional moments, one being that of Ian breaking the 11yrs Breaststroke record. Another came from Annebelle who swam exceptionally well in Butterfly at the age of 8. Chloe also swam a great time in 100m Freestyle. There were many students who pushed beyond what they thought they could do, and they all encouraged one another. I recorded the times for each of our students and have kept a record of their achievements on the day. I will also receive a formal printout of times from Zone for publication. Lastly, I want to say a huge thank you to the parents of the students who were competing, you were not only there to support your child but you supported other children and most of all you supported me. It was a very busy day and the small, yet important offers of assistance were very much appreciated. Thank you, Sandra Reeves (Hornsby North

Swim coach/Team Manager).

Community News - LEARN TAE KWON DO – (Australian Tae Kwon Do Chung Do Kwan Association). Established in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney since 1974. Training:- Tuesday 7.30-8.30pm (Hornsby North Public School Hall); Saturday 12.00-1.00pm (Asquith Community Hall, Storey Park). For enquiries please phone 9972 1651. SCHOOL BUS—Transdev—School Opal Card Compliance Every time a student TAPS ON and OFF, they are counted on our service—when they don’t, they are invisible. Without accurate patronage data, Transport for NSW have the option to withdraw low patronised services. Transdev have found that the common reasons students don’t tap on are:- They do not hold an Opal Card and have never applied for

it (largely because they are ineligible/live too close to the school).

They have lost or forgotten their Opal card but have not replaced it.

They might have a valid card, but don’t see any reason to tap on and off.

The driver does not enforce it/ask them to TAP ON. Or due to insufficient funds on their Child/Youth Opal

Card. It is essential for all school students to travel with a valid School Opal Card or Child Opal Card so that we can understand customer travel patterns and can adjust the services provided if necessary. Please note:- Our drivers are expected to ask students to TAP ON and OFF as part of their duties. Parents, please remind students of the importance of tapping ON and OFF when using the school bus.
