Main Achievements (I)
Maximum Residues Limits (MRLs) and Risk Management
Recommendations (RMRs) (CAC/MRL 2)
For 74 veterinary drugs or combination of veterinary drugs in different tissues of different species of food producing animals
Main Achievements (II)
Guidelines for the Design and Implementation of National Regulatory Food Safety Assurance Programmes Associated with the Use of Veterinary Drugs in
Food Producing Animals
(CAC/GL 71-2009)
The guidelines provide the overarching principles and guidance for governments on the design and implementation of national and trade related food safety assurance programmes for residues of veterinary drugs.
Programmes for the control of residues should:
• Be based on risk and preventive and include measures proportionate to the risk
• Involve all parties involved in the production, marketing and processing of animals
• Recognise importance of pre-harvest controls and practice and of audits and sampling to verify effectiveness
• Be cost effective
Main Achievements (III)
Code of Practice to Minimize and Contain Antimicrobial Resistance
(CAC/RCP 61-2005)
The Code provides guidance for the responsible and prudent use of antimicrobials in food-producing animals.
The document defines the respective responsibilities of authorities and groups involved in the authorization, production, control, distribution and use of veterinary antimicrobials such as the national regulatory authorities, the veterinary pharmaceutical industry, veterinarians, distributors and producers of food-producing animals.
Main Achievements (IV)
Risk Analysis Principles applied by CCRVDF and Risk Assessment Policy for Residues of
Veterinary Drugs in Foods (Codex Procedural Manual)
The document addresses the application of the risk analysis principles by CCRVDF and JECFA and defines the respective responsibilities and interactions.

CCRVDF22 - Main outcomes
Finalised work:
MRLs for derquantel (sheep tissues), emamectin benzoates (salmon and trout tissues) and monepantel (sheep tissues)
RMRs for dimetridazole, ipronodazole, metronidazole and ronidazole
Prepared Priority List of Veterinary Drugs for JECFA evaluation (9 compounds)
Others
Considered outcomes of 78th JECFA, including re-evaluation of rbSTs
Concerns form was submitted for the first time
Held MRLs for ivermectin and lasalocid sodium at Step 4 (included in Priority List)
Concluded its discussion on a policy for the development of MRLs for honey and not to add specific text in the Risk Analysis Principles applied by CCRVDF
Added some explanatory notes to the template used in the Circular Letter for the Priority List
Ongoing and future work (CCRVDF23)
Date and venue
17-21 October 2016, United States of America (TBA)
Ongoing/future work:
Priority List of substances to be evaluated by JECFA (outcomes of 81st JECFA)
RMR for gentian violet
Discussion papers on: unintended presence of residues of veterinary drugs in food resulting from carry-over of veterinary drugs into feed (EWG led by USA and Canada); rating system to establish priorities for CCRVDF (EWG led by France)
Database on countries’ needs for MRLs and global survey to provide information to provide information to the CCRVDF to move compounds from the database to the priority list (EWG led by USA)
Open discussion on issues and concerns that impact the work of CCRVDF
