BLUE MOUNTAINSDAYS FOR GIRLS CHAPTERAnd now the Blue Mountain has a local Chapter.Led by Nadja Lawrence and supported by Central Blue Mountains Rotary, produc on of kits is about to begin. Working bees will be held at Boddington Aged Care facility in Wentworth Falls and recruitment of members will begin in the new year. The new Blue Mountains Days for Girls Chapter is building up their stock of girls knickers size 8-10 and relying on Central Blue Mountains Rotary to help boost supplies.Contact Ava 0419 836 653 or Rhonda 0404 335 535 for more informa on.
Eager sewers gather at Nyngan Community Hall for regular sewing bees. They are members of the local Days for Girls chapter.Like other sewing groups, they make shields, liners and bags, which are then combined into kits: two shields, eight liners, two pairs of underwear, a washcloth, two zip lock bags and an instruc on sheet in a drawstring bag.The ini a ve provides feminine hygiene products to girls and women in impoverished communi es, where a lack of these supplies during menstrua on can prevent them from a ending school and work. Each kit lasts about three years, giving the average girl extra months of schooling. The group encourages local residents to donate fabric, underwear, facewashers and double zip bags.
