What is Horizon 2020 ?

• The Commission proposal for a Research & Innovation funding programme

- 7 years : 2014-2020

- € 80 bn (~ 8 % of the next EU budget,

complementing Structural funds, Education…)

• A part of Europe 2020 Strategy for Smart, sustainable & Inclusive Growth to:

1 - Strengthen the EU’s global position in research, innovation and technology

2 - Respond to the economic crisis by investing in future jobs and growth

3 - Address people’s concerns about their livelihoods, safety and environment
