Thank you for supporting The Hope Movement through financial gifts, prayer, words of encouragement and volunteering your time to help us meet the needs of the poor. Your generosity and compassion have been an answer to our prayers as we continue to carry Christ’s love in word and deed to the needy around the world. With your help, we are bearing witness to the Gospel through tangible acts of mercy that are changing lives and providing hope for the future. You are a valued partner in our work, empowering us to advance the biblical imperative to “love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God” (I John 4:7). The challenge of global poverty is great, but the power of Christ is greater. Every desperate cry for help is a call to Christians to be his light in the darkness. Thank you for answering that call and helping us shine the light of compassion upon the least, the last and the lost. Please consider Adopting-A-Project by becoming a Monthly, Quarterly or Annual Mission Partner. Without your continued support our ability to fulfill the vision of God and serve those living in desperate need would be at risk, but with your continued support lives are transformed. May you be blessed for your kindness, as God’s Word says in Luke 6:38, “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

We Love You,

Founder/ President/ Missionary

H a v e n o f H o p e E s c u i n t l a , G u a t e m a l a Located in Colonia of Madrid and San Felipe, Escuintla, Guatemala the Haven of Hope is providing daily nutritious meals which is essential for survival and development to the most vulnerable of children in the community, children who most days live on less than a piece of bread a day, and spend their time in the streets begging and searching for food for their families. In attending the Haven of Hope The Hope Movement does not just provide physical

nourishment, but through education and counseling we provide spiritual and emotional nourishment to guide youth and adults, heal their inner wounds, and inspire them to pursue their life’s purpose, understanding that poverty is not their destiny, it is only an obstacle to overcome to make their dreams into a reality.

The Haven of Hope provides daily meals, preschool, education, counseling, tutoring classes, life -skills training, English classes, clothing distribution, wheelchairs, school outreach, case management, adult and family counseling and spiritual education and guidance.

E m p o w e r i n g a n d U n i f y i n g t h e C h u r c h The Hope Movement understands the importance of the church's responsibility to step outside of the four walls to serve the community. Often charities invest funds in buildings and salaries when there are many churches that already have a building, volunteers from their congregation and an established relationship with the community but they lack the financial resources and training to launch programs which incorporate spiritual and social outreach.

The Hope Movement partners with churches with a heart to serve and step outside of the comfort zone and develop a relationship with the church. We evaluate the community’s needs and the church's available resources. We then shake the comfort zone of the church to inspire the congregation to assist their Pastor in fulfilling the purpose of the church, provide financial resources for food and education expenses and provide on -going training and monitoring of the program. This allows the church to fulfill the vision of God and allows the Hope Movement to expand our reach, feeding and education more with less.

S e e d s o f L o v e C e n t e r : G u a t e m a l a C i t y , G u a t e m a l a Instead of building new centers we partner and train churches, using their facilities and congregation to serve their community, allowing us to be good financial stewards while empowering the local church. In December 2013 The Hope Movement developed a partnership with Pastor David Martinez and his wife Ingris, a passionate couple with a heart to serve the poor in a community where their church is located in Guatemala City called Zona 12. Each week children

come to the church-based feeding/ education center to receive physical and spiritual nourishment. The children come from broken homes, and find a place of refuge where they can feel loved, receive education, counseling and prayer. The homes of the families are visited to provide additional assistance. 98% of the children are not from the church which opens the doors to share the love of Jesus to them and their families. Through this program the church is growing as they come for food, but leave with Jesus.

S e e d s o f L o v e C e n t e r : N u e v o A m a n e c e r , G u a t e m a l a Visit a slum in Guatemala City where we found over 70 children who have lost at least one parent to violence, incarceration or abandonment. At these 13 have no mother or father and many are raising their younger brothers and sisters and they are no more than 12 years old themselves. Visit a place filled with broken houses and broken homes, families crying out for hope. Visit our new feeding/ education center and see the children receiving a meal, education, counseling and most of all hope. Visit families transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. In June 2014 The Hope Movement mission team visited Nuevo Amanecer located in Guatemala City, a large slum consumed with violence caused by heartless gangs. We met with over 50 children and their Mothers and they explained that all of the children lost their Fathers to violence. One Father was selling ice cream a week before to support his family and was murdered for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Jonathan Roiz, founder of The Hope Movement said to the children from this day forth you now have a Father for we are making a commitment to you to bring transformation to your families and community. A month later in July 2014 we opened the feeding/ education center and will soon be planting a church for this community which will also be the new location for our outreach programs. The church/ outreach center will allow us to not only feed the hungry but feed their soul bringing them closer to Jesus Christ where they can find true lasting hope and peace.

R e f u g i o d e E s p e r a n z a : S a n J u a n S a c a t e p é q u e z , G u a t e m a l a Witness hope rising in this beautiful mountainous indigenous community. Witness children in traditional Indian attire who work instead of going to school because they have to find food for their families, but now have a place to receive a meal, education, counseling and love. Witness a community plagued with indigenous pagan religious beliefs but now have a church where they can learn about the love of Jesus

Christ. For several years The Hope Movement has been traveling into this mountain village to minister to the people who have been forgotten by society. We travel up a mountain by car, walk down the hillside, cross a river and walk up a hillside to arrive in this village. The pastor has been ministering to this community for over four years and has a small church made of wood and pieces of metal. The indigenous people survive off the land, making their own traditional clothing, planting vegetables and raising animals. The Hope Movement will be building a cement church building by the river for easier access for the community and in 2014 we installed a water well and purification system to provide clean water to the people. In July 2014 we opened a feeding/ education center in the church where over 50 children who do not attend church are coming to the center to receive a hot meal, education, counseling and love. This outreach center is opening the doors to reach the families for Jesus Christ, breaking the bondage of pagan religious traditions, abuse and hopelessness.

R e f u g i o d e E s p e r a n z a : V i l l a L o b o s , G u a t e m a l a Off the highway leaving Guatemala City is a place called Villa Lobos, a red zone known for poverty, broken families, gang violence and hopelessness. Rising from the ashes of despair is a church-based feeding/ education center which provide meals to the hungry, education to increase their knowledge, counseling to heal their wounds, prayer and spiritual guidance to find salvation and eternal joy. On October 30, 2014 The Hope Movement launched a new church-based feeding/ education center in partnership with our long-time friend Pastor William Lopez and his church Iglesia Genesis JMA. Over half of the children in our center do not attend church opening the doors to not only minster to their material needs but provide a heart transformation bringing families into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

W e e k l y E n g l i s h C l a s s e s : H a v e n o f H o p e — E s c u i n t l a Every Saturday along with our Club Esperanza activities which are for older children, we have started English classes. English classes help the children to find better jobs in the future and also gives them a passion for education as they learn in a fun engaging atmosphere. Volunteer teachers come to the Haven of Hope as far an hour away to dedicate their time to educate our children and develop a strong relationship with each child, opening the doors to assist them in other areas of their lives. Your investment in the Haven of Hope is empowering the next generation to become future leaders, breaking the cycle of poverty.

D e n t a l M e d i c a l M i s s i o n : G u a t e m a l a We were blessed to have a dentist Dr. Mark Zeigler part of our mission team. With his help we were able to organize 4 medical missions. Dr. Zeigler conducted hundreds of oral examinations while the team provided training on proper dental hygiene and distributed hundreds of toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss. Dr. Zeigler found many children with gum disease and tooth decay. The assistance of volunteer

doctors, nurses and psychologists has allowed The Hope Movement to utilize a holistic approach to meet the needs of our children and families in all areas of their lives; mind, body and soul.

Stories of Hope

M i s s i o n s o f H o p e : T a k i n g H o p e T o G u a t e m a l a On July 21, 2014 a group of 17 people traveled to Guatemala for 8 days. The group came from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Florida, many their first time traveling outside of the United States. We conducted mission work in 5 different cities throughout Guatemala. The mission activities ranged from medical missions, painting in our outreach center, feeding the hungry, distributing clothing, toys and shoes, installation of water pipes to bring water

to an indigenous community, wheelchair distribution, evangelism and prayer.

K a r e n ’ s S t o r y Karen Yadira Siney Uyu is a 9 year old little girl who lives in a village in the mountains in San Juan Sacatepequez. Like all children she is a normal little girl with positive dreams for a brighter future. She has 8 brothers, but their family was unexpectedly interrupted by a bad decision by her mother who was overwhelmed by debts and choose the streets, falling into a deep depressive state going so far as attempting suicide on several occasions, completely abandoning

her husband and children. Karen at her young age was forced to leave the house in search of food for her two younger brothers, William and Eligio who are only 6 and 7 years old. She survives with her brothers, doing work in the neighboring houses, receiving as wages dishes of beans and tortillas which she shares with Eligio and William. Her younger brother Eligio sleeps often as a result of severe anemia. Anemia is a condition in which you don't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your tissues and causes fatigue. Karen leads her brothers to the house of the pastor of the church where on August 2, 2014 The Hope Movement has opened a new Haven of Hope feeding/ education center to eat when she can not find any work,. The center just opened at the church and already has over 50 children just like Karen who are in urgent need of food and love.

W a t e r W e l l I n s t a l l a t i o n : S a n J u a n , G u a t e m a l a We traveled for three hours in two mini-buses and passed through mountainous terrain and open markets filled with people dressed in traditional hand-made attire. When we arrived at our destination we still had a hike before us. We carried all of our supplies and donations and marched down the mountainside, across a river and up a mountainside until we arrived at the church. In these mountains the people live in very poor conditions but make their own clothing and live off the land, utilizing whatever they have to survive, planting vegetables and raising animals. The community did not have water and The Hope Movement has opened a feeding/ education center in this church. The team helped in installing the piping from the top of the mountain to where the church and feeding center is located as well as a faucet. Since then we also installed a water purification system which is benefiting the community.

Stories of Hope

N e w B o a r d M e m b e r i n 2 0 1 4 P a s t o r C r a i g C o l e a n d F a m i l y Pastor Craig and Molly Cole and their daughter Camdyn are an amazing Christian family who God united with The Hope Movement several years ago as they began fundraising as a family. They pastor the home-based Discipleship Community Church in New Castle, PA. After traveling to Guatemala in 2014 they made a decision to join The Hope Movement leadership team. We Love Them! Page 8

Yo u N o w H a v e a F a t h e r : N u e v o A m a n e c e r , G u a t e m a l a In Guatemala City our mission team traveled to a place called “Nuevo Amanecer”, a slum known for gang violence. We walked into a small room, which had The Hope Movement banner on the wall. The mission team started to prepare for the medical mission on other side of the house. Pastor Neri, Pastor David and Jonathan were on the other side with over 50 children, all who had lost their fathers to gang violence. Pastor

David shared the vision of The Hope Movement to open a home church in this community as well as a feeding/ education program. Jonathan spoke up and said I know you don’t have fathers, but from this day forward you now have a father for we are here to bring a transformation to your lives and to this community. Tears filled the eyes of the people, as Jonathan walked out he translated what was just said to a couple of the team members and they shared a moment together knowing that this was something special. Shortly after this day The Hope Movement officially opened the feeding/ education center in this community called Seeds of Love.

F r o m t h e M o u t h o f a C h i l d G u a t e m a l a Camdyn Cole a talented, sweet little girl from New Castle, PA wanted to tell the children about Jesus. So in front of almost 300 children she stood up and performed an amazing basketball dribbling show and the people cheered. With Jonathan translating Camdyn shared why she loves Jesus, and that she is a little girl just like them and they too can live for Jesus. The mission team then performed a drama with Marcela as the girl, Jim K. as Jesus and the mission team played various parts. The drama was about a girl who gives her heart to various people and each time they mistreat her and break her heart and each time Jesus comes to heal her heart and at the end she finally realizes Jesus is all she needs. As the team acted out the drama Jonathan spoke narrating the story connecting the people with the story and how they may have experienced these same situations but that Jesus is the way, the truth and life. We all then prayed the sinner’s prayer.

We aspire to be more like our Savior, Jesus Christ, in who we are and what we do.

We are called as stewards of the ministry of The Hope Movement. We commit to these principles in ever -increasing measure. We abide by practical commitments to live holy disciplined lives out of a deep devotion to Jesus Christ and a desire to be an example and light to the world through not just words but by actions and the way we live.

W h e e l c h a i r s o f H o p e The Hope Movement provides wheelchairs free of charge to people with disabilities who are living in poverty in developing nations. Often in developing nations where the large portion of the population are living in poverty and neglected by the government, those living with disabilities are most vulnerable to suffer from not only poverty but prejudice, lack of mobility and equal opportunities. We collect donated wheelchairs and provide them to children and adults delivering not only

the gift of mobility, but also dignity, independence, and hope. The mission of this program is to provide the transforming gift of mobility to the physically disabled poor in developing countries as motivated by Jesus Christ. Wheelchairs opens the doors to liberate people living with disabilities and through our education programs Mi Potential and Children of Purpose we provide tools to enhance techniques to pave a path of confidence, intelligence, creativity and vision. This unique vision is answering the call of those with special needs to provide creative methods to reveal to the child and the community that a disability does not prevent you from living a long successful life, it is only an obstacle to overcome. Last year we provided wheelchairs to children and adults in need. This transformed their lives and gave them a new freedom.

V a l u e s E d u c a t i o n E s c u i n t l a , G u a t e m a l a We had a group of professional volunteers at the

Stories of Hope G i f t s o f L o v e Throughout the year The Hope Movement collected toys, clothing, shoes, school supplies, office supplies, food and wheelchairs and distributed needed items to hundreds of families. Through the efforts of The Hope Movement team and our donors children received wheelchairs so they can live more productive lives, children enjoyed a Christmas to remember, we celebrated Day of Children a Latin American Holiday, provided hygiene products and lives where transformed by supplies provided for our feeding and education programs. For many children they don’t

have an opportunity to celebrate Christmas or even their Birthday but thanks to kind donations they were able to create wonderful memories which will last a life-time.

Yo u C a m e i n T i m e E s c u i n t l a , G u a t e m a l a Jonathan Roiz, Pastor Craig Cole, Craig List and Shawn

Hill went for a walk through the red zone in Escuintla,

Guatemala. Jonathan first thought about going left but

decided to go right, they walked a few feet when they

heard a woman cry out “Jonathan, Jonathan”.

Jonathan and the men turned around and saw a

woman standing at the door with her child. She than

asked what are you doing, he replied, we are walking the streets praying. Her body seemed to lose strength and

she fell into Jonathan’s arms weeping. They walked into the house and through her tears she began to explain

that she has been battling depression. This battle has been so intense she was having excruciating pain in her

head. She wasn’t eating, losing weight and could not care for her children. The depression was causing division

in her marriage and she was considering killing herself. Just before the men arrived she was crying in bed saying

God give me a reason to live when her 4 year old daughter yelled “Here they come!”. Jonathan wrapped his arms

around her as she soaked his shirt with her tears and they began to pray for liberation and peace in her mind

and home. They prayed for over an hour until the woman fell from Jonathan’s arms to the couch. Jonathan sat

next to her, Shawn on her left side knelt on the floor and Pastor Craig Cole and Craig List sat around us. She

explained the battle but felt that God was performing a miracle and Shawn asked to share a story from the book

of Matthew. Jonathan asked her if she had a Bible and while Shawn read in English, Jonathan and the woman

read in Spanish. The story was about the pearl of value. God used Shawn to share a story that related to her life.

Jonathan translated and also explained further that a pearl is formed in the sea under great pressure. That

pressure in the mouth of the animal creates a jewel of great value, and that she was that pearl being formed

under pressure because God has a plan for her life. She told them that she just started going to church but her

husband said he would find God when he is ready. He entered the home and Jonathan spoke with him about how

he is the priest of his home and must be a godly example to his wife, children and community. He said we need

real men of integrity who will make a stand for God, their family and break the cycle of one parent homes. We

visited with her a months later and her countenance has changed, she is full of joy and the love of Jesus Christ.

O u r M i s s i o n : The Hope Movement is a 501 (c) (3) Christian non-profit. Our mission is to shake the comfort zone of God’s people to renew our minds, uniting us as one to impact lives through evangelistic, holistic and transformative methods to bring nations closer to Jesus Christ, breaking the cycle of spiritual and physical poverty and loosening the chains of bondage.

The Hope Movement is not an organization, or a one man show. It is a movement of destined individuals united as one, dedicating our lives to the rescue and care of children and adults living in desperate need. A new day has arrived and the Hope Movement is the formation of a generation of transformation.

M e t h o d t o t h e M i s s i o n : Under the guidance and direction of Jesus Christ The Hope Movement develops strategic, evangelistic and holistic programs within existing churches and ministry-based facilities to be excellent financial stewards while empowering the local church to step outside of their comfort zone to fulfill its calling to serve those inside and outside of its four walls. We plant and nurture Bible-based Churches, innovative outreach programs to transform communities into havens of hope and loving homes for the abandoned and abused providing hope for a brighter future. The Hope Movement practices what we preach and go out into darken places united as one conducting holistic missionary work to illuminate the light of Jesus Christ.

The Hope Movement confronts human suffering: spiritual poverty that paralyses the soul, physical poverty that drains families of hope, family dysfunction that causes a generational repetition of parental contamination, hunger that consumes lives with inner pain, addiction that pollutes the body, abuse that rips innocence from a child and robs of them a peaceful future and slavery that steals dignity and health from children and adults denying them freedom and security.

Suffering of the poor is not driven by the overwhelming power of the perpetrators – it is driven by the vulnerability of the victims, and the lack of unity and passionate individuals who will step out of their comfort zone, unite, and reach those who are longing for hope. This suffering can be stopped when God’s people step outside of their comfort zone to unite. One unites with another becoming a ripple, building into movement, forming a flood of hope, flowing through the streets like a mighty river transforming all that is in its path with the power of unified actions of love.
