Last Wednesday we hosted our 2016 Information night and presented our Student Leaders to the school community. Thank you to those

families who attended this event. We’re very pleased to inform you that our school has implemented a new phone app called Updat-ed that will make connecting with you so much more convenient.

To download the app just visit the App Store for iPhones or Google Play for Androids. Search for Updat-ed and from the menu select our school. We’ll receive your registration request and will need to approve you before your app is up and running.

So what will the app do? The app’s great for sending out alerts and reminders with one of its best features being the ability to save events directly into your phone’s calendar. If you are experiencing difficulty with your app please take a look at our Trouble Shooting Guide. Any further queries should be directed to: [email protected] Please state the following in your email to helpdesk: Your school Name and email address Model phone/tablet Software version

We hope you enjoy being Updat-ed.

Our Kialla Central P.S. House Athletics are on Friday 4th March at Kialla Central Primary School. Students are encouraged to wear their House

colours for this event. A note will be sent home to our new families informing you of what House your son / daughter is in.

Archer ~ Blue Fairmaid ~ Green Mitchell ~ Yellow

We assemble on the oval at 9.15am for a 9.30am start and finish about 2.00pm. I am seeking some parent helpers for this day. If you are available to help please let me know.

We also have our big East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s (EGPSSA) Athletics Carnival at McEwen Reserve Shepparton on

Friday 18th March. I am attending an EGPSSA meeting next Monday to find out what event we will be responsible for this year, as well as the age groups we will be supervising. A note will be sent home outlining the details for this special event.

On Monday 29th February it is Parents’ Club AGM followed by a general meeting. The AGM will begin at 7.00pm. If you would like further information about Parents’ Club and what’s involved please see me or one of our current members. It is also that time of year again when schools hold their School Council elections. We have 4 parent vacancies to be filled this year as their 2 year term as School Councillors draws to an end. Our retiring members are: Graeme Mitchell, Robyn McCully, Tina Kerr & Anthony Kerr. Retiring School Councillors who still have children enrolled at Kialla Central are eligible to renominate for this year’s elections. Mitchell Zito’s position as our staff representative also becomes vacant after his 2 year term. He too can also re-nominate.

Nominations are being sought for our 2016 School Council. Forms are available at the office and need to be returned to school by 4pm Wednesday 24th February 2016. If

you would like to discuss this role further please come and see me.

Our Foundation students have not been required at school on Wednesdays for February as part of their transition to school. Next Wednesday 2nd March they start school full time. It will be their first Art lesson with Miss Sue Cowan. Please ensure they have their art smock and Library bag at school ready to go. This year our Foundation students were re-

quired to attend school for an hour on a Wednesday to undertake the

English Online and Numeracy Online assessments. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Foundation families for their support with this process. It is that time of the year when we are seeking sponsors for our newsletter. Attached is a form with further details for anyone who may be interested.

SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATE ... School Council have written a letter to Public Transport Victoria regarding our safety concerns regarding our bus not having seatbelts. Shepparton Transit has informed us that our bus is too old to retro-fit the seats with seatbelts. I understand that if the PTV accepts our letter then they assist in getting us a new / more updated bus.

Part of School Council’s role, is forward planning as to what our school may look like in 5 or 10

years time. School Council are inviting our school community to have input into their vision for our school. Including what it physically looks like, number of students attending, programs offered etc. Refer to attached information sheet to record your ideas.

THANK YOU …

Terry Dohnt for cutting in our running tracks and mowing the oval.

Tracy Blake & Zoi Tricarico for tidying up our Library.

Peter Blake for re-doing the edge of our garden bed near the Karramomus Room.

Andy Ryan for spraying our weeds.

All of our parents who helped cover our new readers.

Our F/1 students are identifying and creating 6 people in their family or their friends. One person must be them, another must be their buddy and the other four are their choice. They are now making our master pieces out of card.

Our Grade 2/3/4 students are also up to making their final versions of themselves using a wooden template of a person as their starting point. Their goal is to make them as accurate as possible. Our 5/6 students are making their final versions using a wooden template of a person as their starting point. They have to create one side as them now and the other as them in the future at age 25.
