These scholarships were established tothank the people of the United States for the assistance receivedunder the Marshall Plan developed by General George C.Marshall after World War II. Marshall Scholarships are awarded toabout 40 students per year and provide opportunities forAmerican students who have demonstrated academic excellenceto continue their studies at a university of their choice in GreatBritain. Recipients of this highly competitive scholarship musthave an outstanding academic record with a minimum gradepoint average of 3.7.
