ABOUT THE CONDUCTOR Kathryn Lakiotis retired to Collinsville, Illinois after forty years of performing and teaching in Iowa, New York, Michigan, Montana, and Illinois. Born in Iowa, Kathryn began her violin studies with her grandfather and in the public school program. Knowing from a young age that she wanted to be an orchestra teacher, Kathryn studied music education and violin performance at the University of Iowa and the University of Michigan. Her studies also included several summers at the Suzuki Institute of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Through her teaching career, Kathryn has guided her students to love music and to strive for excellence in music and in their lives. Her orchestra programs have received numerous awards, and, under her direction, her orchestras have performed at state conferences in Iowa and in Illinois. Presently, Kathryn is teaching violin part time at the St. Paul Lutheran School in Hamel, Illinois, and performing with the Belleville, Illinois, Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Belle Noche String Quartet.

ABOUT THE CONDUCTOR Dawn Weber is known as one of the top performers and trumpeters in the St. Louis area. Her wide diversity of styles has made her a unique musician in the scene. She got her start when she left home of Waukon, Iowa at the age of 16 to study music at the North Carolina School of the Arts. This is also when she started playing professionally in both the jazz and classical genres. After graduating high school from this esteemed performing art school she attended the Cleveland Institute of Music where she received her undergrad degree in trumpet performance. Here she trained intensely in the classical genre but also studied jazz and worked in the rock and Latin scene in Cleveland. After graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Dawn moved to the St. Louis scene. Not long after moving to St. Louis she began to sub with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and was selected as 1 out 5 trumpet players worldwide to compete in the Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Competition. While she was competing and performing classically she started to play with a popular St. Louis group called Vargas Swing who she toured with for 2 years. This is where Dawn got her start as a singer/songwriter and front personality. Dawn continued her education by receiving her Masters Degree in Jazz Performance from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. She has since released 6 albums as the main songwriter for various projects she is involved with in the genres of swing, jazz, funk, groove, and electronica. Dawn still currently free- lances classically, subs with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and performs with the classical groups Arch City Brass and Gateway Brass. She also plays trumpet, sings with and leads the projects Naked Rock Fight, Electro Funk Assembly and The Dawn Weber Group. She performs nationally and is currently working on new albums with her projects she is involved with.

ABOUT THE ACCOMPANIST Nathan Coleman chose piano lessons over a new kitty when he was six years old; he got the kitty later anyway. His first paying gig was at age sixteen that he performed with a broken left wrist. While studying piano with Daniel Schene at Webster University, Nathan was awarded multiple scholarships, including the prestigious Buder Foundation Scholarship, the Sister Alice Eugene Tighe Music Scholarship, and the Peggy Fossett Endowed Scholarship. He was twice a selected performer at the Piano Texas Academy on the TCU campus in Ft. Worth. Nathan has recently spent time in Spain at the Archivo General de Indias researching the trans-Atlantic export of early keyboard instruments from Europe to the New World. After graduating with honors from Webster University, he is now pursuing his graduate degree and performing with chamber groups across the region. Nathan is an active member of the Saint Louis Classical Underground, and, in 2014, he and violinist Neil Zundel formed the piano/violin ensemble Duo Laberinthe and continue to perform regularly.
