Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition CentreThis award-winning 306,000 sqm meeting and exhibition venue, first opened in 1988, offers 91,500 sqm of rentable space. An iconic Hong Kong landmark, the HKCEC is located on a prime waterfront site in the central business district of Hong Kong. It is owned by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) LimitedHong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (‘HML’) is a professional private management and operating company. HML is responsible for providing day-to-day management for the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (‘HKCEC’), where it oversees administration, marketing, business development, booking, scheduling, event co-ordination, building maintenance and security. It also manages food and beverage operations at the HKCEC, including restaurants and catering services. HML provides world-class services for users, visitors and guests of the HKCEC, a venue which has been consistently awarded the title of ‘Best Convention and Exhibition Centre in Asia’ by leading industry professionals. About 1,000 events are held at the HKCEC every year, including exhibitions, conferences, corporate meetings, entertainment events, seminars and banquets. These events contribute significant economic benefits to the city, and help raise the international image of Hong Kong. 在去年 12 月舉行的會展中心 30 周年慶祝酒會上,我很榮幸能與一眾尊貴客戶、業務夥伴和員工聚首一堂,為會展管理公司這 30 年來促進業界 發展及對香港經濟繁榮所作出的貢獻舉杯慶賀。30 年不僅是一個重要的里程碑,也是我們向前邁進,大膽變革的新起點。

除了為主辦機構開啟全新可度身訂造的尊尚無線網絡服務,及提供可展示豐富視效的大型液晶體屏幕外,我們更開展了一個投資額高達 10 億港元的五年設施提升工程,從內到外翻新會展中心的基建和設施,使這座香港地標能為使用者帶來前所未有的舒適度和便捷。

SPEARHEADING TRANSFORMATIONMessage from the Managing DirectorAt the HKCEC’s 30th anniversary cocktail reception last December, I was privileged to join clients, business partners and staff members to celebrate three decades of HML’s unwavering contributions to industry advancement and the prosperity of Hong Kong. This 30th milestone is also the beginning of a new era – a time for daring plans to transform.

Already we have rolled out new customisable premium Wi-Fi packages for organisers, and installed a stunning LED wall for visual presentations. That’s not all. Under our newly launched ambitious HK$1 billion Five-year Advancement Project, the iconic landmark will undergo massive upgrades to its infrastructure and facilities, bringing unprecedented comfort and efficiency to its users.

All these transformations are driven by our commitment to being a ‘thought leader’ within our industry, to firmly establish and sustain the HKCEC as one of the world’s best.

5G 流動網絡即將覆蓋 每個角落

隨著政府將於 2020 年指配 5G 頻譜,會展 中心已於 2019 年 5 月開展裝設工程,為提供5G 流動網絡覆蓋作好準備。我們將建設一個能覆蓋整個會展中心所有可租用場地、餐廳和後勤用地的完善網絡,預計於 2020 年首季竣工。屆時會展中心將成為一所配備先進5G 網絡的場館,讓訪客率先在中心享用 5G網絡所帶來的種種便利。

全新 LED 屏幕帶來 震撼視覺享受

為滿足客戶展示豐富影視效果和 4K 視訊的強烈需求,會展管理公司於 2019 年 2 月在會展中心會議廳添置了一座闊 9 米、 高 5 米的高解像度液晶體屏幕,不但能為講者提供一個視像效果出色的高解像度 演示空間,更可為主辦機構節省至少四 小時的組裝時間。

尊尚無線網絡服務 更高速稱心

會展管理公司繼 2018 年完成會展中心 無線網絡提升工程,使系統可同時支援 超過 20,000 部流動裝置,讓參展商和 訪客免費享用高速又穩定的無線網絡服務之後,更於 2019 年 1 月進一步推出「尊尚無線網絡服務」,讓主辦機構自行設定 活動專屬的無線網絡登入名稱、界面和 增加網絡頻寬,更有效地提升活動品牌的 知名度。

NEWER, BETTER, FASTER FACILITIES

Premium Wi-Fi for quicker, customised browsing experience Following a major 2018 revamp, HML gave HKCEC exhibitors and visitors a faster and reliable Wi-Fi service that could support more than 20,000 mobile devices concurrently. In January 2019, we took another leap forward with the launch of a new premium Wi-Fi service, bringing event organisers the option of setting up their own dedicated event SSID along with a customisable event Wi-Fi login page and additional bandwidth, which helps enhance the brand exposure of their events.

New LED wall delivers stunning visuals To address strong demand for powerful visual aids for presentations and the display of 4K videos, HML has installed a new high-resolution LED Wall (9m wide by 5m high) in the HKCEC’s Convention Hall, available since February 2019. The LED wall not only provides presenters with an impressive high resolution screen to deliver their visual presentations with maximum impact, it also helps save at least four hours of set up time for event organisers who no longer have to use their own display equipment.

5G mobile coverage soon available everywhere Visitors to the HKCEC will be among the first in Hong Kong to enjoy the benefits of 5G, with the HKCEC now being readied as soon as the 5G spectrum has been assigned by the Government in 2020. The 5G installation project, kicked off in May 2019, will create a comprehensive network covering the entire HKCEC building, including all rentable spaces, restaurants and backstage areas. Completion is targeted for the first quarter of 2020 – when the HKCEC will become an advanced 5G-ready zone for all.

會場設施全面翻新

為確保會展中心提供世界級設施和服務,會展管理公司在 2019 年 6 月展開投資 額達 10 億港元的「會展中心五年設施 提升工程」,進行一連串升級和翻新工程。 計劃包括全面提升音響系統、空氣調節箱、水管和消防裝置,更換地毯、隔牆和牆磚,以及翻新洗手間和活動附屬房間。工程首階段現已完成,範圍覆蓋會議廳、演講廳及展覽廳 3FG。

提升工程陸續上馬

及後數年的提升工程將覆蓋會展 中心的其他場地,包括大會堂及各展覽廳。客用升降機亦將推行更換。整項工程於 2024 年完成後, 訪客將可感受到會展中心煥然一新的轉變,不但環境比以往更加舒適安全,服務效率亦將更勝一籌。

TRANSFORMING INSIDE AND OUT FROM FLOOR TO CEILING

A major makeover for venues With an aim to upkeep HKCEC’s world class infrastructure, HML kicked off the HK$1 billion HKCEC Five-year Advancement Project in June 2019 with mega scale renovations of various facilities and infrastructure in several stages. The Advancement Project include upgrades of audio system, air handling units, water pipes and fire services installations; replacement of carpets, partitions and wall fabrics, and refurbishment of toilets and ancillary rooms. The first stage covering the Convention Hall and Foyer, Theatres and Hall 3FG has completed.

Projects to be completed in stagesSubsequent stages of the project in upcoming years will cover other HKCEC’s venues, including the Grand Hall and other exhibition halls. Guest lifts will also be replaced. By the time the project is completed in 2024, visitors will experience significant changes right across the HKCEC – making them safer and more comfortable than ever, while enjoying greater efficiency across the board.

Business overviewIn fiscal year 2018-19 (1 July 2018 – 30 June 2019), the HKCEC welcomed an attendance of over 8.5 million and a total of 1,000 events. They included:

Celebrating HML’s “art of excellence”The HKCEC’s marketing efforts this year were built around the inspiring new theme “The Art of Excellence”. The theme captures both HML’s commitment to excellence and our team’s painstaking efforts to raise our service standards to new heights. In support, we produced a wide range of high quality themed collaterals, including a new marketing brochure, a bold thematic advertisement carried on 18 trade media platforms, eye-catching e-banner ads and much more.

Over 2.2 million diners served 款待超過220萬名食客

緊貼客戶品味

會展管理公司一直致力提升餐飲服務多元化和品質,今年我們在金紫荊粵菜廳新增商務午餐和廚師推介套餐,為客人提供更多選擇,又在擴充後的港灣茶餐廳新增專為展覽特選菜單。我們的糕餅部亦進行革新,新出品的創意甜點都 令人垂涎三尺,獲得客人高度評價。

此外,為照顧參展商在展覽繁忙期間的餐飲需要,我們自 2018 年 10 月起推出多項貼心便利服務,包括讓參展商以二維碼方式輕易取閱餐單和尋找小食亭的位置,配合電話服務熱線方便客人訂餐,大大提升相關服務的效率。我們亦 採用電子餐單告示板以取代傳統打印的餐牌和海報,讓更新餐單更快捷更 環保。我們又在展覽舉行期間提供四部流動咖啡車,隨時隨地為參展商和訪客提供咖啡飲料。這些新服務都得到廣泛支持,令客戶倍感便利。

恪守食物安全最高標準

食物安全和衛生一直是會展管理公司的 重點服務承諾,為此,我們聘請了新的 食物安全及衛生經理,並推展了一套嚴謹的內部審核機制,使我們更有系統地追查、評估和改善廚房和其他食物處理地點的衛生情況。在短短 7 個月,我們已完成了 60 次審查。此外,我們又加強餐飲部員工在食材準備和處理方面的衛生知識 和培訓,並再次為兩間餐廳 ─ 薈景和 港灣道 Café ─ 取得 HACCP(食物安全重點控制)認証,確保食品安全可靠。

餐飲服務 別具特色

EXCEPTIONAL AND INSPIRING F&B FARE

Uncompromising food safety standards Food safety and hygiene is a core HML commitment. Alongside appointing a new Food Safety & Hygiene Manager, we have introduced a stringent internal assessment programme enabling us to systematically track, assess and improve hygiene conditions in our kitchens and other food handling locations. In just seven months we have already completed 60 inspections. Adding to these major changes have been extra training sessions for our F&B staff on preparing and handling food safely, and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) recertification for our restaurants, Congress Plus and Harbour Road Café.

F&B services tailored for diners’ tastes HML is constantly raising the bar in terms of its F&B variety and quality. Menu choices have been increased with our new Executive Set Lunch and Signature Tasting Menu in Golden Bauhinia Cantonese Restaurant, and our peak hour exhibition menu for the newly expanded Harbour Kitchen. Our pastry section has reached new heights too, following the launch of a stunningly creative array of sweet delicacies.

To better cater the needs of exhibitors and visitors during busy fairs, we have introduced new initiatives. From October 2018,

we enhanced our in-booth ordering and dining services by providing exhibitors with a handy QR code to view menus and locate concession stands, in addition to the hotline for food orders. Elsewhere, we replaced traditional printed menu signs and posters with digital menu boards, an environmentally friendly move which is also making it easier to update menus quickly. Four mobile coffee carts have also been introduced at exhibitions to serve exhibitors and visitors on the move. Cumulatively, all these new services have translated into major improvements in convenience and efficiency for our customers.

保障工作環境安全

承建商和員工的人身安全對會展管理公司至關重要。為提供更佳保障,新推行的工作安全守則包括提升佈展及拆展期間使用反光衣的要求、禁止使用超過兩米高的工作梯,以及離地工作必須使用合乎認証的工作梯等,並在所有展覽佈展期間預留緊急出入通道,以策安全。我們又與主辦機構和承辦商舉行定期會議,確保他們清楚明白會展管理公司的安全文化。此外,為期 3 年的閉路電視系統和出入管理系統提升工程已於 2018 年 10 月完成,更有效提升會展中心的保安。

保持區內交通暢順

會展保安團隊為中環灣仔繞道工程作出了大量協調工作,在歷時 9 年的建造過程當中,與運輸署、警方及其他持份者進行無數次會面,建議便利措施,如臨時道路設計和施工時段,以疏導大型展覽及活動佈展及撤館期間的大量車流,確保灣仔北的交通暢順。繞道成功於 2019 年 1 月開通,大大改善了區內交通狀況。

PLACING EVERY EVENT IN THE SAFEST HANDS

Facilitating smooth traffic across the neighbourhood HML Security team has contributed to the successful opening of the Central-Wan Chai Bypass in January 2019, which helps ease the traffic situation in the neighbourhood. The team conducted countless meetings with the Transport Department, Police, and other involved stakeholders over the 9-year construction period, to propose temporary measures and work schedule around the HKCEC’s event calendar and to facilitate movement of large number of vehicles especially during move in and move out of large exhibitions.

Securing a work-safe environment The safety of contractors and workers is paramount for HML. New safety regulations included enhancing our reflective vest policy during move-in and move-out periods, restricting the use of ladders of more than two metres in height, permitting only certified ladders to be used for all work above ground, and allocating blockage-free aisles for emergency access purposes during all exhibition move-in periods. We continued to conduct regular meetings with organisers and contractors to ensure they clearly understand the HML’s safety culture. On the other hand, the 3-year CCTV and access control system enhancement project was completed in October 2018, enhancing HKCEC’s safety measures.

我們細心聆聽客戶意見,以回應及改善 服務。今年我們革新了客戶電子問卷, 更準確掌握主辦機構重視的領域,又增加了新問題以收集更廣泛的意見。新問卷 所取得的反饋令人鼓舞,當中百分之 43完成問卷的客戶給予會展中心「非常好」的服務評分,我們亦因應客戶提出的建設性建議,作出合共 199 項改善工作。

此外,為進一步提高市民大眾對會展管理公司的成就和打造「智慧會展中心」最新發展的關注,我們推出了三個 Facebook遊戲,觸及 439,000 名粉絲。我們全新的企業宣傳短片「讓世界欣賞 • 你所想」,以創新手法呈現會展管理公司的服務承諾,不但吸引了 455,000 瀏覽次數,更為我們於年內贏得共四個國際性獎項。

TURNING CUSTOMER FEEDBACK INTO POSITIVE ACTION

Listening to the voices of customersTo change for the better, we listen carefully to what our customers have to say. This year, we enhanced our post-event e-questionnaire to gain a better idea on the areas that mean the most to event organisers, and added new questions to expand the range of input we collect. The feedback received was exceptional, with 43% of customers who completed the e-questionnaire rating our service as “Excellent”. We also undertook 199 improvement actions based directly on the constructive feedback we received.

Engaging clients, stakeholders and the publicThe HKCEC’s milestone 30th anniversary cocktail reception, held in December 2018, brought together almost 1,000 guests in a celebration of HML’s three decades of achievement and contribution. This was an opportunity for the HML team to showcase the professionalism and quality of our catering and event management services to many of Hong Kong’s most influential leaders, with guests including clients, government officials, stakeholders, and media friends. The celebration was attended by The Honourable

Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government, in a gesture of support for the contribution made by HML to Hong Kong’s prosperity.

To further raise public awareness of HML’s achievements and our investments in creating a “Smart HKCEC”, we launched three rounds of Facebook game that reached 439,000 fans online. A further 455,000 online viewers enjoyed our new corporate video “Let the World See Your World”, utilising an innovative approach in presenting HML’s commitment that won us four international awards during the year.

2019 年 6 月我們開設了一個全新的員工休息室,讓努力工作的員工擁有一個可暫作歇息和恢復精力的專屬空間。室內配備了舒適的沙發、USB 充電器和免費 Wi-Fi,員工可在此盡情放鬆和休息。我們更鼓勵員工為休息室命名,最終由「鬆一 Zone」勝出 ,幽默又貼題。

加強培訓 締造更高服務標準

我們透過嚴謹又全面的培訓課程,訓練出一批專業優秀的員工,服務至誠一絲不苟。今年我們為公司各職級的員工提供了 13,660 小時的培訓,包括一系列為中高層管理團隊度身訂造的工作坊,提供「領導改變」、「擁抱轉變」和「策略性思維」培訓,以協助他們積極迎接未來的變革。此外我們又派遣了五名員工到 AIPC (the International Association of Convention Centres) Academy 及 VMS (Venue Management School) 接受海外訓練,跟其他場館的同業互相交流學習,了解行業最新趨勢和作業模式。

Nurturing a sense of belonging The HKCEC’s warm professionalism is the result of a constant, meaningful commitment by HML to engaging with and valuing our staff. Staff members were an integral part of our 30th anniversary celebrations, with a whole range of activities organised for them that included a large-scale staff party and a video competition. Gold coins imprinted with personalised portraits were presented to long-serving staff who had been with the company for 30 years. These loyal staff and their families were also treated to a special celebration dinner.

A place to refresh and recharge In June 2019 we opened a new staff break room, specially designed to recognise the hard work of our employees and provide them with a dedicated resting and recharging space. Equipped with comfortable sofas, USB chargers and free Wi-Fi, the room has proved a popular space for staff to chill out and take a well-earned breather. Staff were given the chance to name the room too, with the contest-winning name being “Break Break Channel”. Creating exceptional service

standards through training We build our uncompromising staff professionalism through rigorous and comprehensive training. This year, we provided a total of 13,660 hours of training to staff of every level, including a series of customised workshops aimed at middle, senior and top management, namely “Change Leadership”, “Embracing Change” and “Strategic Thinking” workshops to prepare the management team to embrace upcoming transformations. Five colleagues were sent to overseas training at AIPC (the International Association of Convention Centres) Academy and VMS (Venue Management School), where they absorbed latest industry best practice with peers from other venues.

會展管理公司一直心繫社區,為慶祝會展中心 30 周年,我們與長期合作伙伴惜食堂攜手合辦慈善午宴,招待 500 名長者和低收入家庭共賀新禧。活動有近 100 名愛心會展人參與,受惠者一邊享用美食、一邊觀賞精彩表演和玩遊戲,並獲贈節日福袋,盡慶而歸。此外,我們亦定期向弱勢社群捐出節日美食,在中秋節代客戶和持份者向食物銀行 — 眾膳坊捐贈了 1,242 件月餅。

為善最樂 創建更美世界

為更有效幫助社會上有需要的人士, 會展管理公司從根本重新調配資源的 運用。我們把原本用來製作 30 周年慶祝酒會賓客紀念品的費用,改以會展管理 公司客戶和員工的名義,把合共 50 萬 港元的善款捐贈給五個長期合作伙伴。 此外,公司員工又積極參與由香港癌症 基金會發起的「粉紅服飾日」籌款活動,除各自踴躍捐獻,我們的餐廳亦透過售賣粉紅美食,把所得的收益全數捐出,折合6 萬港元。

Sharing festive blessingsHML has always stood for the community. In collaboration with our longstanding charity partner Food Angel, we celebrated the HKCEC’s 30th anniversary with a charity lunch for 500 beneficiaries, supported by almost 100 HML volunteers. Participants celebrated Chinese New Year with games and performances, and received special festive gifts. HML has also regularly donated seasonal fare to the less advantaged. We kept the momentum going by donating 1,242 mooncakes to the People’s Food Bank, a gift made on behalf of our clients and stakeholders.

Donations to transform lives for goodHML has been supporting the needy in the community by fundamentally rethinking the way we allocate resources. Instead of spending money on souvenirs for cocktail reception guests and staff members to celebrate HKCEC’s 30th anniversary, we instead made a monetary donation of HK$500,000 to our five CSR partners on behalf of HML customers and staff. HML staff members were also active in supporting the “Dress Pink Day” organised by Hong Kong Cancer Fund. Apart from staff members’ own donations, proceeds from the sales of pink food items in restaurant outlets were also donated to the charity, generating a total of HK$60,000 to the needy.

愛護地球的領先舉措

今年會展管理公司在推動環保變革方面 繼續擔起業界的領導角色,進一步把減塑行動發揚光大,推行了多項全新措施, 積極推動主辦機構和持份者變得更環保,例如提供折扣優惠以鼓勵展位搭建工友在中心內堂食以減少使用即棄餐具,獲百分之 46 的工友支持;又於會展中心內設置 全港首兩座蒸餾水環保補水站,連同中心內固有的 18 座免費飲水機,全面鼓勵訪客自攜水樽,愛護地球。

提高社區環保意識

為進一步向社區和學校推廣會展管理公司的減塑行動,我們為學生舉辦了「減塑地球保衛戰」會展中心平面及短片創作比賽,收到了來自 15 間學校共 147 份參賽作品,接近 200 名學生參與。頒獎禮當日邀得環保團體「綠惜地球」代表頒獎和 作分享,向他們介紹日常生活中的減塑 秘訣。

Simple steps in support of our planet This year, HML has lifted its leadership role in environmental transformation by pushing ahead its industry-leading “Think Before Plastic” initiative. Not only have we introduced new policies that are among the first in the industry, we have been leading the way in promoting and encouraging behavioral change among organisers and stakeholders. Initiatives have included introducing price incentives to encourage contractors to dine in and avoid using disposable utensils and cutlery – already 46% of our contractors are supporting this move. We have also encouraged visitors to bring their own bottles, installing two of Hong Kong’s first eco-friendly distilled water vending machines inside the HKCEC to supplement 18 other free water fountains.

Raising green community consciousnessTo convey HML’s “Think Before Plastic” campaign to the community and to schools, we organised a “Plastic-Less Planet” HKCEC Graphics and Video Creative Design Competition that attracted 147 highly creative entries from 15 schools, engaging nearly 200 students. At the award ceremony, the representative of environmental group Green Earth commended the students’ efforts and offered handy tips on green living.

實踐可持續發展

會展管理公司深明必須與持份者通力 合作,方能真正地實踐可持續發展。今年我們與三個主要活動主辦機構會面,就展覽可制定的綠色發展策略和措施交流意見。會議上亦分享節省原材料的方法, 例如建議使用電子通行證和電子指南,以及減低展攤的高度等。此外,我們對減廢和循環再造不遺餘力,把已分類的廚餘運往位於小蠔灣的香港首個大型有機資源 回收中心 O · PARK1,實行轉廢為能。

積少成多 長效節能

我們正從系統和工作程序方面著手,逐步改善能源 措施,以節省中心的能源消耗。由於會展中心的面積龐大,會展管理公司必須採用創新策略才可實現理想的能源效益。今年我們陸續在中心內裝設數碼電錶,幫助我們分析及找尋節能機會。而在前線員工方面,我們推出節能最佳作業指引,並加強員工培訓,齊心合力減省電能使用,成效顯著。

以綠色建築認證為目標

會展管理公司正全力為會展中心爭取綠色建築認證,此舉意味著要為這座擁有 30年歷史的建築物實行現代化的綠色設施和可持續標準。為此我們於 2018 年 7 月聘請顧問,為實現於 2022-23 財政年度取得 兩大主要認証 — LEED 及 BEAM — 作積極準備,相關改善工程已於 2019 年 4 月展開,為會展中心轉型為理想綠色建築踏出第一步。

LITTLE STEPS BIG IMPACT

Small steps for long-term energy savings Through both systems and work procedures, we are transforming our energy practices and continuing to shrink the HKCEC’s energy footprint. Given the size and scale of the HKCEC, HML has to develop new and innovative strategies for becoming more energy efficient. This year we have been installing digital power meters throughout the HKCEC, to help HML identify saving opportunities. At the frontline we also issued a Best Practice Guide on electricity saving reinforced by staff training sessions, which is contributing to cumulative energy reductions.

Making sustainability a reality HML understands that achieving genuine sustainability can only be achieved through close cooperation with stakeholders. This year, we met with three main event organisers to exchange ideas and develop strategies for new green measures at exhibitions. The meeting

Green building accreditation on the horizon HML is pursuing the ambitious aim of achieving “green building” accreditations for the existing HKCEC structure, a goal which means implementing modern green facilities and sustainability standards in this 30 year-old building. Following the appointment of a consultancy service provider in July 2018, we are gearing up to obtain two major accreditations – LEED and BEAM – by FY2022-23. Improvement work began in April 2019, the first step in transforming the HKCEC into a building ready to step into the future.

Making an impact across the board This year HML achieved copious high-level recognition with a total of 37 prestigious awards and certifications from external bodies. In sustainability, we achieved re-certification of ISO 20121 Event Sustainability Management System and the ASTM Standard. We also obtained certification as a “Hong Kong Green Organisation”, and achieved a Web Accessibility Gold Award in recognition of our care for people with visual impairments. Meanwhile, the HKCEC’s food and beverage team impressed at the Hong Kong International Culinary Classic 2019, bringing home one Gold, five Silver and two Bronze medals.
