After he started using “Alpaca, fleece” he became a multi- millionaire. Alpaca fleece is the natural fiber harvested from an Alpaca. It is light or heavy in weight, depending on how it is spun. It is a soft, durable, luxurious and silky natural fiber. While similar to sheep’s wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and has no lanolin, which makes it hypo- allergenic. Alpaca is naturally water- repellent and difficult to ignite. Titus was a man of many interests, He built a model town, called Saltaire, for his workers. Later he was elected to Parliament and, because his pro- gressive ideas had benefitted the whole industrial life of England, Queen Victoria made him a Baron (the lowest order of British nobility). All that Sir Titus Salt had heard, seen, and possessed had not given him satisfaction. One Sunday Sir Titus heard a preacher tell about how, while sitting in his garden, he had watched a caterpillar climb a painted stick that had been stuck into the ground as a decoration. The caterpillar slowly climbed to the top of the stick, then reared itself, feeling this way and that for some juicy twig on which to feed, or for some way of further progress. But the caterpillar was disappointed. Groping about, it found nothing. Slowly it returned to the ground, crawled along until it reached another painted stick, and did the same thing all over again. This happened several times. “There are many painted sticks in the world,” said the preacher. “There are the painted sticks of pleasure, of wealth, of power, of fame. Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and therewas a great calm…What manner of man is this, that even thewinds and the sea obey Him! (Matthew 8:26-27)

A MILLIONAIRE AND A CATERPILLAR

Like many other men, Titus Salt, came from a poor family. As a boy heworked in a factory in England. Titusworked hard. He was blessed with aninventive mind and developed aprocess for using coarse Russianwool. Using this process he becameone of the wealthiest woolenmanufacturers. After he started using“Alpaca, fleece” he became a multi-millionaire.

Alpacafleece is thenatural fiberharvestedfrom anAlpaca. It islight or heavyin weight, depending onhow it isspun. It is asoft, durable, luxurious and silkynatural fiber. While similar to sheep’swool, it is warmer, not prickly, andhas no lanolin, which makes it hypo-allergenic. Alpaca is naturally water-repellent and difficult to ignite.

Titus was a man of many interests,He built a model town, called Saltaire, for his workers. Later he was electedto Parliament and, because his pro-gressive ideas had benefitted thewhole industrial life of England,Queen Victoria made him a Baron(the lowest order of British nobility).

Was Sir Titus Salt satisfied? Hewas not. As wise King Solomon hadsaid: The eye is not satisfied with

seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. Ecclesiastes 1:8.

All that Sir Titus Salt had heard, seen, and possessed had not given himsatisfaction. One Sunday Sir Titusheard a preacher tell about how, whilesitting in his garden, he had watched acaterpillar climb a painted stick thathad been stuck into the ground as adecoration.Thecaterpillarslowlyclimbed to thetop of thestick, thenreared itself, feeling this way and thatfor some juicy twig on which to feed,or for some way of further progress. But the caterpillar was disappointed.Groping about, it found nothing.Slowly it returned to the ground, crawled along until it reached anotherpainted stick, and did the same thingall overagain.

Thishappenedseveraltimes.

“Thereare many painted sticks in the world,”said the preacher. “There are thepainted sticks of pleasure, of wealth,of power, of fame. All these call tomen, and say, ‘Climb me, and youwill find the desire of your heart.Climb me and you will fulfill thepurpose of your existence. Climb me

and taste the fruits of success. Climbme and find satisfaction’.”

“But,” continued the preacher,“they are only painted sticks.”

The very next day the preacher hada visitor. It was the wealthy Baron, who said, “Sir, last night I heard whatyou said about the painted sticks. Iwant to tell you that I have beenclimbing them, and today I am aweary man. Tell me, is there rest for aweary millionaire?”

The preacher had the great joy ofpointing that sin-burdened soul toHim Who said, COME UNTO ME, allye that labor and are heavy laden, and I WILL GIVE YOU REST(Matthew 11: 28). And Sir Titus, wholong had sought satisfaction from thisworld and had never found it, laid hisheavy burden at the feet of the LordJesus, accepting Him as his personalSavior, and was able to sing joyfully(as so many of us can),

I came to Jesus as I was,Weary and worn and sad;

I found in Him a resting place,And He has made me glad.

Friend, are you, too, climbing thepainted sticks of this world, in thevain pursuit of pleasure, wealth, power, or fame—living your wholelife away from God?

Are you not burdened about yoursins? Turn now, like Titus Salt, to theonly Savior, and there at His feetconfess that you are a sinner and thatyou want to be saved. In Him you willfind pardon, peace, and joy forever. His precious blood cleanses from all

sin (1 John 1:7). He satisfieth thelonging soul, and filleth the hungrysoul with goodness.

(Psalm 107:9)

The above picture represents a time when all animals shall be at peace one

with another. In the Bible we read, The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the younglion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And thecow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox (Isaiah 11:6-7).

Even now the Lord Jesus can tame the wild hearts of sinful men and makethem quiet, just as He will make the wild animals quiet in the day that is spokenof in these verses. Trust in Him as your own personal Saviour, and instead ofbeing like one bound by the chains of sin and darkness, you will be a child ofGod and on your way to glory.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (John 8:36). The Bible also says, “Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth.”

…what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light acandle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when shehath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbors together, saying, Rejoicewith me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth(Luke15:8-10).
