What will Peter do when he sees the gate?

MathsUse your knowledge of number bonds to 20 to help you solve the problems on the challenge cards (see link on class page).

Extension - Can you make your own similar story problems? Maybe you could draw bar models like the ones on the challenge cards to show the number bonds in your story problem.

GeneralHave you noticed any signs of Spring?

TopicWatch the following video about ocean habitats.https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zx882hv/articles/zsfkd2pCan you make an Under the Sea ‘Shoebox Habitat?’

What do you need?

Shoebox (if you don’t have a shoe box is there a different box you could use in your house?)

Paper Scissors Decorating materials (paints/crayons/pens/coloured papers) Glue Lolly sticks/paper clips/drinking straws and modelling clay/blue tack

(optional), cello tape

How to make a shoebox habitat:

1. To start, prepare the shoebox (or a different box) by removing the lid.

2. You can print different species and background sheets from the internet or you can make your own using the materials you have in your house.

3. Using glue attach the background to the inside walls of the shoebox. You might also like to decorate the floor of your shoe box using any extra materials you have available (coloured pens or coloured paper, sand, straw, pebbles, etc.).

4. Colour in the species you have printed off from the internet or drawn yourself. You can look at images in books or in the internet for inspiration.

5. Next, carefully cut out each species. Care must be taken as this can be quite fiddly - adult supervision will be required.

6. You may wish to glue some of the animals directly onto the walls of the shoebox, or suspend them from the sides using drinking straws, unfolded paper clips, lolly sticks or similar. These can be taped to the edge of the box or propped up using modelling clay or blue tack. Using string or wool you can attach the animals and hang them from the top of the box.

Here’s one we made earlier:
