ELECTION PROCESS FOR 2019 SENIOR SCHOOL LEADERS ROLE STATEMENTS (i) SCHOOL CAPTAINS AND VICE CAPTAINS As the most significant student leaders in the school, school captains are expected to be ambassadors who embody the school mission statement: Respect, Perseverance, Growth and the school motto Optima Optime “The best possible things in the best possible ways”. They must be approachable, reliable and trustworthy with high expectations of themselves and others. The school captains and vice captains are to take an active role in all aspects of the school community and work with others to achieve the best possible outcomes. Responsibilities include Communicate with staff and students Be positive role models – presentation, uniform, and

display behaviour, which is representative of the school’s values.

Public speaking at variety of school events and assemblies. Be active in the school community Seek to build harmonious relations within the school Play a significant role in the SRC

Act as school representative at formal functions

(ii) SRC EXECUTIVEThe senior SRC Executive are key leaders in the school. Their work is to lead the SRC to best provide an active student voice and services to the students and school.

Responsibilities include Be positive role models – presentation, uniform, and

display behaviour which is representative of the school’s values

Organise SRC timeline of activities and allocate duties to junior members of SRC

Run SRC meetings, take control, make agendas Present and orchestrate SRC assemblies Meet with SRC teacher coordinator Communicate with staff and students and outside agencies

(iii) SPORTS CAPTAINSThe role of Sport Captain is to encourage all students to participate in sport activities such as Athletics, Swimming, Gala Days and Knock Out Competitions. They are to set a good example and be enthusiastic in their approach to their role. They must at all times embody the school’s values.

Responsibilities include: Lead the sports committee in coordinating games between

students and staff to lift the profile of Sport in the school. Encourage school spirit Assist with organisation of teams and groups at carnivals

and other sporting activities Organise motivational paraphernalia such as banners,

balloons, war-crys and fancy dress at appropriate carnivals and other sporting activities.

Be positive role models – presentation, uniform, and display behaviour, which is representative of the school’s values.
