Opportunities Galore
Opportunities Galore! We are just at the half-way mark
of Term 3 and already so many activities/ opportunities
have been made available for our students. We’ve had
children participating in Education week celebrations,
playing soccer and touch football, competing in a
chess tournament, playing in the Trent Barrett shield,
competing at the PSSA Athletics carnival, participating
in debating competitions, going to weekly dance
sessions, as well as participating in the University of
NSW English competition! These extra-curricular
opportunities are all part of a wellrounded education,
and made possible by our dedicated teachers who put
in many additional hours into training, organising and
preparing for events.
Visiting Author
As part of our Book Week activities we were very
lucky to be treated to a very special visit from our very
own resident/parent children’s book author – Mrs
Amanda Huckin! Amanda has a daughter Samantha, in
Kindergarten Blue and she has had many children’s
story books published. Last Wednesday she held an
information session, sharing her books with the whole
school. Over the next few weeks Amanda will now
conduct writing and illustrating workshops with each
class, working with them on writing techniques. We are
very lucky to have such a talented author right on our
doorstep and we appreciate the time that she is giving
to our students and school.
Book Week celebrations!
What a wonderful day was had by all on Tuesday!
Despite the terrible weather, there were still lots of
fabulous costumes and many family members in
attendance making it a most enjoyable day. A huge
thank you to all of the students for their fantastic
participation and efforts – and to the many family
members who helped in creating some awesome
outfits! My thanks to Mrs Reeves for organising our
Book Fair. Our final tally was about $3900 worth of
books sold! This will mean a significant amount of
books will now go into our library – thank you
everyone!
